Summary

The Accounting Assistant at Mattel will support the Agency Operations department in various financial tasks. Responsibilities include implementing process changes, communicating updates, using financial systems (Clients & Profits), reviewing reporting accuracy, tracking budgets, working with legal on contracts and payments, processing vendor documentation and invoices, allocating expenses, reconciling accounts, and handling month-end closes. The role requires strong organizational and communication skills, proficiency in Excel and Clients & Profits, and experience in financial internal controls. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, highly detailed, and proactive.

Job Description

The Opportunity: 

The ideal candidate for the Sr Agency Operations Associate is versatile, a highly detailed self-starter, can self-manage and be proactive about keeping everyone in the loop and up to date on the status of all tasks. Partners with manager in processes and department efficiencies.  Must be extremely organized, process-oriented, and able to communicate effectively.  The position is based in El Segundo, CA and reports to the Supervisor Agency Operations.

What Your Impact Will Be: 

  • Works with department manager to implement various process changes and upgrades
  • Plays a key role in communicating and implementing changes within the department
  • Is the power user of all systems
  • Work closely with all levels of management, production and various finance teams
  • Review detailed reporting for accuracy of reclasses
  • Track budget versus actuals
  • Work with Legal to verify contracts are in place, contractual terms are followed, and payments schedules are issued
  • Process all documentation for vendor screening
  • Process invoicing for all vendors, including setting up purchase orders if necessary
    • Allocate invoices to all jobs
  • Allocate temp spend to all jobs
  • Reconcile Clients & Profits (where production spend is housed) against GL
  • Process month end closes
  • Process intercompany chargeback’s monthly
  • Request Clients & Profits for new users
    • Set up /Train new users in Clients & Profits
  • Run ad hoc reports for Finance, Producers, Teams & Audit

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For: 

  • 5+ years of work experience in Finance and/or Accounting
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience in Clients and Profits
  • Experience with project management
  • Proficient in maintaining effective financial internal controls
  • Preferred Education: BA/BS in Business
  • Demonstrated a growth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves

The base hourly rate for this position is between $25.75 and $32.00 per hour
**This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however base hourly rate will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
