The Humanities and Arts Department at Worcester Polytechnic Institute is seeking part-time adjunct faculty to teach Theatre courses and practicums. The role involves teaching introductory and intermediate courses, thematic seminars, and practicums, as well as participating in department productions. WPI's theatre program offers instruction in dramatic literature, playwrighting, acting, directing, dramaturgy, technical theatre, and theatrical design, producing at least four productions annually. The ideal candidate is a practicing scholar/artist with professional and collegiate directing, acting, design, or technical credits, strong connections to current theatre trends, and demonstrated teaching excellence and versatility.

Part-time adjunct faculty pool in Theatre to fill opportunities on a course-by-course basis as need arises.  

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Humanities and Arts Department at Worcester Polytechnic Institute is regularly seeking part-time adjunct faculty to teach Theatre courses and practicums. In addition to participating in department productions, theatre faculty teach introductory courses, intermediate thematic seminars, and practicums. WPI’s theatre program produces at least four productions a year and offers instruction in dramatic literature, playwrighting, acting, directing, dramaturgy, technical theatre, and theatrical design. 

 

The ideal candidate is a practicing scholar/artist who has professional and collegiate directing, acting, design, or technical credits and has strong connections to current scholarship and artistic trends in theater and live performance. A successful candidate must also demonstrate teaching excellence and versatility as well as an ability to jump into an existing curriculum with creative and critical pedagogical approaches.  A successful candidate should hold a terminal in theatre or a related field.
