Job Description

Visual Concepts seeks a temporary Animator to polish gameplay move sets from motion capture data using Maya. Responsibilities include addressing feedback, collaborating with senior animators, meeting project schedules, cleaning up data, adding hand poses and IK tokens, editing prop data, and ensuring high-quality character interactions. The ideal candidate possesses detailed Maya knowledge, proficiency in animating realistic body motion, adaptability to iterative processes, efficient workload management, and the ability to assist in other animation areas. Experience with MotionBuilder and knowledge of Mel or Python scripting are pluses. The position requires strong work ethic, teamwork, and a passion for video games.

What We Need:

Visual Concepts Entertainment, the developers of the critically acclaimed NBA 2K video game franchise, is seeking an experienced temporary Animator! This position will report directly to the Art Director.

What You Will Do:

  • Polishing multiple gameplay move sets from Mocap data using Maya
  • Address feedback in a timely manner
  • Work closely with the lead and senior animators to modify assets meeting game-ready requirements
  • Efficiently meet project schedules
  • Cleaning up any solving issues and improving the data itself by adding handposes and IK tokens for various features
  • Editing any prop data captured and ensuring character interactions with it look at the necessary level of quality expected by the supervisor
  • Responsible for delivering a list of daily animations edited for the supervisor to review and make revisions accordingly

Who Will Be A Good Fit:

  • A detailed knowledge of Maya
  • Proficiency animating realistic body motion with a good eye at observing and animating the subtleties of player movement
  • Ability to quickly adapt to iterative processes and technical innovation
  • Efficiently handle their workload on their own initiative
  • Comfortable with schedules and fast turnaround times
  • Ability to assist other areas of animation outside of gameplay (while still working with body Mocap data).
  • Ability to maintain motivation, has excellent work ethics, and works well with others
  • Experience using MotionBuilder for Mocap data
  • Working knowledge of Mel or Python scripting is a plus
  • Previous Mocap experience is helpful
  • Love of video games, not just ours!

 

The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be  $45.00 per hour. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an 'at-will position' and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
