Job Description

As an Associate Editor, you will play a key role in supporting Journal Editors and Editorial Board Members (EBMs) to ensure rapid and high-quality peer review, and publication. You will support content delivery by managing peer review for specific manuscripts across our journals and making editorial decisions. Success in this role requires strong time management skills, broad scientific knowledge, and a commitment to excellence in editorial practices. Key performance indicators include fast turnaround times, rigorous peer review standards, and exceptional service to authors, reviewers, and EBMs. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about science and looking to launch a career in academic publishing. The position is full-time and based out of our Pune office, with a hybrid working arrangement.
Must have:
  • Assess manuscripts for compliance with our editorial policies and suitability for peer review.
  • Identify and invite appropriate peer reviewers and manage the peer review process in a timely manner.
  • Recommend editorial decisions.
  • Liaise with EBMs to progress manuscripts to a final decision.
  • Manuscript consultation (e.g., support Assistant Editors/EBMs with reviewer finding).
  • Identify manuscripts where there are difficulties in reaching an editorial decision and provide a resolution.
  • Working with stakeholders to support the development of the journals and ad hoc projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assess manuscripts for compliance with our editorial policies and suitability for peer review.

Experience, skills and qualifications

  • PhD-level research experience in Chemistry or Physics
  • Thorough understanding of the scientific research community and its needs
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Sound knowledge of and interest in science in general
  • Highly self-motivated, resourceful, and achievement-oriented
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong workload management and organizational skills
  • Active, supportive team player with an adaptable and flexible approach
