Springer Nature is a leading global research publisher. This Editorial Assistant role at Adis Publications focuses on providing and managing reference and research for various internal groups, including Commissioning Services, Periodicals Writing, and Medical Communications. The position also involves contributing to the oversight, management, and reporting related to the processing of journal manuscripts and overall journal management, ensuring efficient operations within the publishing workflow.
Must have:
  • Develop optimum search strategies for biomedical and commercial literature.
  • Deliver information according to customer requirements (deadlines, formats, costs).
  • Provide document supply services as required.
  • Train editorial groups on effective literature searching and EndNote use.
  • Perform regular reporting and metrics activities, including tracking Adis Drug Review projects.
  • Oversee and manage the Editorial Manager system.
  • Manage manuscript cascading between NZ, the UK and the Transfer Desk.
  • Handle JFlow/JFlux and QFlow processes.
  • Provide other support for the Adis Journals groups as required.

Purpose of the role

Reference/Research provision and management for the Commissioning Services, Periodicals Writing and Medical Communications groups.

Contributes to the oversight, management and reporting for processing of journal manuscripts and for journal management.

Key tasks

Reference/Research provision and management for the Commissioning Services, Periodicals Writing and Medical Communications groups:

  • Develop optimum search strategies to accurately search the biomedical and commercial literature as available on multiple electronic databases as appropriate
  • Deliver the information in line with customer requirements (deadlines, formats, costs, etc.) Provision of document supply services as required
  • Provides training to the editorial groups on effective literature searching, maximising the use of EndNote, use of document sources (Reprints Desk), etc.
  • Regular reporting and metrics activities including tracking of Adis Drug Review projects/pipeline, research services recharges, etc.

Contributes to the oversight, management and reporting for processing of journal manuscripts and for journal management including:

  • Editorial Manager system oversight, including the proposals menu, with actions taken as appropriate
  • Manuscript cascading between NZ, the UK and the Transfer Desk
  • JFlow/JFlux
  • QFlow
  • Regular reporting and metrics activities

Provides other support for the Adis Journals groups (including the Periodicals Writing Group) as required

Any other duties as required by the Editorial Director and/or Manager
