As an Associate Messaging Security Analyst, you will be an integral part of a global security efficacy team, focusing on the identification, management, and response to email-based threats. You will collaborate closely with fellow Analysts and Researchers to develop, refine, and maintain effective detection strategies. Your work will help keep Mimecast customers protected from evolving email threats. Analysts will participate in a shift rotation, enhancing global coverage and fostering collaboration across time zones. Proactively identify and dissect email-borne threats including phishing, BEC, malware, and spam campaigns. Categorize suspicious emails for model training and detection. Monitor email threat feeds, identify and respond to events. Maintain awareness of current threat landscape and trends. Collaborate with team members to investigate threats and improve detection efficacy. Participate in cross-functional projects to improve Mimecast’s security posture.
Must have:
  • Background in information technology with a cybersecurity focus
  • Experience working with large data sets
  • Experience in SOC or email detection/filtering engines
  • Knowledge of email threats and TTPs
  • Understanding of email protocols (SMTP, IMAP, DKIM, SPF, DMARC)
  • Excellent time management and self-prioritization
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Eagerness to learn, adapt, and share knowledge

Associate Messaging Security Analyst – Threat Protection

The Role

As an Associate Messaging Security Analyst, you will be an integral part of a global security efficacy team, focusing on the identification, management, and response to email-based threats.  You will collaborate closely with fellow Analysts and Researchers to develop, refine, and maintain effective detection strategies. Your work will help keep Mimecast customers protected from evolving email threats.

In this role, analysts will participate in a shift rotation, which includes working either the morning shift (~8 AM to ~5PM) or the evening shift (~ 2PM to ~10 PM).  The shift rotation enhances global coverage and fosters collaboration with team members across different time zones.

What you will do:

  • Proactively identify and dissect email-borne threats, including phishing, BEC, malware, and spam campaigns.

  • Participate in cross-functional projects with Operations teams to improve Mimecast’s security posture.

What we are looking:

  • A background in information technology with a focus on cybersecurity.
  • Experience working with or classifying large data sets.
  • Experience in a SOC or email detection/filtering engines.
  • Knowledge of email threats and their TTPs, and strong curiosity about the infrastructure of phishing/malicious email campaigns.
  • Understanding of email protocols (SMTP, IMAP, DKIM, SPF, DMARC).
  • Excellent time management and ability to self-prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to collaborate effectively both in-office and remotely; strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Eagerness to learn, adapt, and share knowledge with others.
