As a Project Engineer, you will be driving projects from a technical team perspective, which is a key new role paired with the traditional project manager role. You will define and deliver innovative ideas, work on broadly defined opportunities, and partner with the business team on execution and delivery. Responsibilities include ownership of technology development, execution, and communication across technology teams, leading in Architecture / Design / Development Strategy, driving industry best practices for software engineering including ASPICE and FuSa compliance, resolving key technical issues, driving resolution on technical priorities, engineering risk and impact analysis, ensuring quality goals, and communication of technical solutions internally and externally.
Must have:
  • Master’s degree in engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science
  • 8+ years Software/System Engineering experience
  • Decent communication skills
  • Good English communication both oral and written
Good to have:
  • Experience as a Project Engineer or System Architect
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve a business goal and drive technology requirements
  • Deep knowledge in at least two multimedia technology domains
  • Deep knowledge in other system technology area
  • ASPICE, ISO 26262 and Cybersecurity assessment experience
  • Self-driven and comfortable spanning software, hardware, system, and commercialization skills.
  • High level of focus on ensuring very successful projects

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 8+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 7+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.

• 4+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.

Responsibilities

The Project Engineer (PE) will fulfill a project engineering role in Qualcomm’s Automotive Business Unit working to drive projects from a technical team perspective, which is a key new role paired with traditional project manager role. In this PE role, you will define and deliver innovative ideas, work on broadly defined opportunities, and partner with the business team on execution and delivery.

For this position, we are looking for candidates with strong technical knowledge, decent team leadership, and project execution & coordination capability for multimedia systems, with real hands-on experience for the system or key features’ design, development, delivering, and up to successful commercial launch. You need to drive the multimedia E2E function development across multiple tech domains and work with global teams.

Responsibilities include:

· Ownership of technology development, execution, and communication across technology teams and technical communication with customer/counterparts.

· Ownership and leadership of Architecture / Design / Development Strategy – Technology owner (working with Product Marketing for overall SW portfolio strategy)

· Drives industry best practices for software engineering including ASPICE, FuSa compliance

· Resolve key technical issue across teams

· Drive resolution on technical priorities when there is conflicts and tradeoffs within automotive team and cross core teams.

· Responsible for engineering risk and impact analysis

· Drive and mandate quality of goals in conjunctions with Program Manager

· Communication of the technical solution internally and externally when needed

· Availability in key meetings pertinent to the technical discussions

· Contribute to lessons learned and project retrospectives from the technical perspective

Minimum Qualifications

· Master’s degree in engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

(Bachelor can be considered as exception case)

· 8+ years Software/System Engineering or related work experience.

· Decent communication skills in general, and good English communication in both oral and written.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience as a Project Engineer or System Architect

· Demonstrated ability to achieve a business goal and drive the technology requirements and product design and service business

· Deep knowledge in at least two multimedia technology domains is expected: display/GFX/Video/Audio/Camera (ISP)/Compute Vision, or Machine Learning.

· Deep knowledge in other system technology area is a big bonus (e.g., Linux, Android, QNX, Security, Virtualization, Performance, Stability, etc.)

· ASPICE, ISO 26262 and Cybersecurity or relevant assessment experience as a big bonus

· Self-driven and comfortable spanning software, hardware, system, and commercialization skills.

· High level of focus on ensuring very successful projects.
