General Summary
Are you passionate about building tools that empower artists to create stunning visual effects? Join our team as a Senior Pipeline Developer and play a key role in shaping the backbone of our CG production pipeline.
The Senior Pipeline Developer is responsible for assisting in the overall efficiency of the facility-wide production pipeline. They support the management and development of tools that help digital artists with their daily use of both third party and in-house software and systems. These tools are intended to make visual effects production as efficient and productive as possible. This role focuses on improving, maintaining, and supporting our CG pipeline.
The role requires strong technical and communication skills, as well as a firm understanding of software design, graphics, and production workflow. Experience designing tools in a production setting is required.
Responsibilities
- Work with and take direction from Pipeline Managers, CTO, Head of 3D, and Senior Technical Directors as well as artists to architect, design, create, support & maintain tools to be integrated into Zoic’s existing pipeline.
- Design the best solutions for the studio while collaborating with other Senior Pipeline Developers
- Develop, deploy, and maintain studio solutions
- Work with artists to troubleshoot and fix problems.
- Update and maintain tools, techniques and work flows as required.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of work experience as a Pipeline Developer or in a position with similar responsibilities.
- Experience using USD in a production environment
- Proficiency in Python.
- Experience building lighting tools for Houdini, or Nuke.
- Experience with Houdini and Solaris
- Experience with user interface development.
- Solid understanding of Object Oriented Programming and Design.
- Experience with Version Control Systems.
- Experience with Qt.
- Experience with containers and web technologies is a plus
- C/C++ development, SQL experience a plus.
- Past experience with Shotgun/Shotgrid/Flow or similar production tracking software
- Experience leading others or managing projects is a plus
- Able to communicate clearly with the various Zoic departments and locations.
Additional information
- British Columbia Senior Employees Pay Range: $50 - $60 (The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position)
- Candidates MUST be located in British Columbia, Canada. At the moment this is a remote (work from home) position with the option of working within our studio.
- Zoic does not cover relocation costs.
- All remote positions require the candidate to have a reliable internet connection via ethernet and work on Pacific Standard Time.
