Job Description

The BI Analyst supports operational teams by developing ad-hoc reports, extracts, and analyses. Responsibilities include processing and prioritizing business-as-usual activities, updating existing reports, and investigating/resolving bugs. This role involves collaborating with internal stakeholders to understand data requirements, analyzing outcomes, and supporting BI development through data matching, formatting, mapping, and testing.
Must have:
  • Identify, analyse, interpret trends, patterns in datasets to present insights.
  • Compile reports and provide insights to internal stakeholders.
  • Develop ad-hoc reports, extracts, and analysis.
  • Check and verify data and analyses for accurate reporting.
  • Investigate, Identify, resolve data or reporting issues.
  • Perform maintenance tasks for the BI Report Suite.
  • Perform data operations activities like matching, formatting, mapping.
  • Perform BI development activities by testing outcomes.
  • Make recommendations to improve data quality and efficiency.
  • Promote 'Self-serve' analytics by mentoring stakeholders.

This position offers a hybrid work model, allowing flexibility between working from home and our office. Typically, employees are expected to work 2 days in the office per week.

As a BI Analyst, this is what you’ll be doing:

Supporting operational teams with the development of ad-hoc reports, extracts and analyses, the BI Analyst will be responsible for processing and prioritising business as usual activity including but not limited to updates to existing reports and bug investigation, resolution, or escalation.

This role will be required to collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their data requirements and analyse outcome, as necessary. The BI Analyst will support reporting and BI development activities such as matching, formatting, mapping, and testing data.

Role responsibilities:

  • Identify, analyse, interpret trends, patterns in new and existing datasets to present insights.
  • Compile reports and provide insights to internal stakeholders to measure and improve business performance.
  • Develop ad-hoc reports, extracts, and analysis in a timely manner as part of the BI & Reporting BAU process.
  • Check and verify data and analyses to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Investigate, Identify, resolve data or reporting issues or where necessary escalate to data owners or report developers to ensure data integrity protocols are met and accurate reports are generated.
  • With other members of the BI Team, perform maintenance tasks as required to sustain the BI Report Suite using Tableau, Excel, PowerBI and other tool sets which are applicable.
  • Perform data operations activities such as matching, formatting and mapping data to ensure a global common data set.
  • Perform BI development activities by testing outcomes to ensure new BI features are quality checked and released without issue.
  • Make recommendations about the methods and processes in which QS obtains and analyses data to improve quality and the efficiency of data systems.
  • Promote 'Self-serve' analytics by mentoring internal stakeholders in the interpretation and use of analytical reports and models.
  • Any other additional duties as required.

Key skills and experience:

  • BSc in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics, or a closely related field or equivalent demonstrable experience.
  • Experience working in BI Analyst or Data Analyst role.
  • Experience working with relational databases, data warehouses.
  • Skillful in SQL, SQLite and MySQL.
  • Good analytical skills with the ability to collect, format, organise and analyse significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience in formatting, analysing, and presenting data.
  • Experience in PowerBI, Tableau or any other visualisation platform would be an advantage.
  • Some experience of working within a RDMS and Data Warehouse environment.
  • Developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills with an ability to conceptualise and think creatively.
  • Experience of working in a high impact teams required to meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communications skills - both written and verbal, with the ability to understand reporting and analytical requirements and to present them back to users in the form of clear, concise, and digestible reports.
  • Able to work autonomously and within a team including managing own workload.
  • Proactive attitude with the ability to use initiative to identify potential issues and offer creative solutions.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills with and aptitude to work under pressure
  • Willingness to offer and discuss opinions whilst considering those of others in the team and the wider business.
