Job Description

As a Director of Data Protection, you will lead clients in building trust through robust data protection, privacy, and compliance practices. This role involves guiding organizations through complex data trust challenges and leading strategic advisory engagements. You will contribute to evolving the data trust practice, fostering relationships with technology vendors, and mentoring a high-performing team, all while applying a broad understanding of cybersecurity principles.

Must Have:
  • Lead data protection consulting engagements across various industries.
  • Manage engagement, including project planning, oversight, budget, and resources.
  • Ensure adherence to PwC Risk and Quality management processes.
  • Conduct business development activities throughout the opportunity lifecycle.
  • Evolve data trust practice with emerging topics like ethical data/AI use, anonymization, and data minimization.
  • Foster relationships with technology vendors or other third parties.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing team of data protection consultants.
  • Work with other teams on cybersecurity projects.
  • Understanding of Data Security capabilities (Encryption, Tokenization, Deidentification, Data Leakage Prevention).
  • Knowledge of Technology Deployments such as Microsoft Purview and similar products.
  • Understanding of data inventory, data flow mapping, and application integration patterns.
  • Ability to develop Data Security strategy, operating model, policies, standards, and tool design.
  • Proficiency in leveraging recognized information security/privacy standards.
  • Demonstrate proven problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to guide clients and support team members.
  • Fluency in English and French is required.

As a cybersecurity generalist, you will focus on providing comprehensive security solutions and experience across various domains, maintaining the protection of client systems and data. You will apply a broad understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices to address diverse security challenges effectively.

As a Director of Data Protection, you will play a key leadership role in helping clients build trust through strong data protection, privacy and compliance practices. You’ll guide organizations through complex data trust challenges and lead strategic advisory engagements.

You will be able to do this alongside a local and national team of problem solvers, in a supportive and collaborative environment where, together, we are helping our clients to solve important business issues from strategy to execution.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead data protection consulting engagements across various industries
  • Engagement management, including project planning, project oversight, budget and resource management
  • Ensure that Risk and Quality management processes are adhered to at all times.
  • Business development activities throughout the entire opportunity lifecycle, from lead generation to proposal and contract management.
  • Evolve our data trust practice with your local and national colleagues to extend our services to include emerging topics such as ethical use data and AI, anonymization, depersonalization, data minimization and other relevant topics.
  • Foster relationships with technology vendors or other third parties that can support our practice and our clients.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing team of data protection consultants
  • You will also have the opportunity to work with other teams to participate and lead other types of cybersecurity projects.

Experiences and skills you’ll use to solve

  • You're understanding and knowledge on a series of topics and technologies; Data Security capabilities, including Encryption, Tokenization, Deidentification, Data Leakage Prevention; Technology Deployments such as Microsoft Purview and similar products. Data inventory, data flow mapping, and application integration patterns.
  • Developing Data Security strategy and roadmap, operating model, policies/standards, and tool design and process documents.
  • Evaluating new solutions and services, providing a business case on whether the firm should develop skills and vendor relations within new Data Security solutions and technologies.
  • Ability to leverage recognized information security/privacy standards.
  • Demonstrating proven problem-solving skills and an ability to communicate effectively to guide our clients and support team members.
  • Certifications - CISSP, CISM, and CRISC are preferred but not mandatory.
  • Contributing to project planning, engagement administration, budget management, and the successful completion of engagement work streams.
  • The successful candidate requires fluency in English, in addition to French as they will be required to support or collaborate with English-speaking clients, colleagues and/or stakeholders during the course of their employment with Canada
