Job Summary
PwC Luxembourg is seeking a Manager for its Actuarial and Risk Modelling Services (ARMS) team, specializing in non-life insurance. The role involves providing actuarial consulting services, including risk pricing, reinsurance optimization, business plan review, claims reserve analysis, and risk/capital modelling. The manager will work on complex projects across Luxembourg and European markets, supporting Solvency II reviews, IFRS 17 accounting, and audit teams. The position requires leading and delivering projects, supervising junior staff, and contributing to the growth of the actuarial practice.
Must Have
- Provide actuarial consulting services, including risk pricing, reinsurance optimisation, business plan review and development, claims reserve review, risk and capital modelling, and other actuarial projects
- Perform IBNR reserving analysis, backtesting and valuation with a strong focus on business drivers
- Support/lead Solvency II reviews for insurers, including Solvency II balance sheets, QRTs and ORSAs
- Support insurance regulation-related projects as subject matter experts (SMEs) in reinsurance and non-life insurance, such as local regulation, IFRS 17 accounting, transfer pricing, POG/VFM
- Lead and deliver projects related to reinsurance strategy and optimization, including planning and pricing, and capital efficiency analysis
- Work closely with audit teams to provide actuarial support to our audit practice with regard to Luxembourg-based insurers and reinsurers
- Support the finance and tech transformation journeys of clients with subject matter expertise in reinsurance, risk pricing and reserving
- Lead and deliver actuarial projects focused on analyzing claims experience and development patterns, assessing reserving implications, and quantifying the impact on loss ratios and profitability
- Support the Corporate Finance, M&A and Strategy teams by providing expert support for business transactions, portfolio transfers, actuarial due diligence projects and reserves/provision certifications
- Assist in the continued growth and development of PwC’s actuarial practice
- Supervise and coach junior actuarial staff
- Significant progress in the examination process towards becoming a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries or a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (or an equivalent actuarial association in a European country)
- At least 5 years of experience in reserving, pricing, capital or risk modelling in non-life insurance industry and/or consultancy
- Practical experience with reinsurance, including planning, pricing, and optimisation, as well as Product design, risk transfer mechanisms, retrocession strategies, capital efficiency analysis, exposure modelling, and compliance with Solvency II and IFRS 17 frameworks
- Solid understanding of standard non-life actuarial practices under Solvency II, complemented by expertise in one or more related areas such as Luxembourg GAAP, IFRS 17 reporting, and regulatory compliance frameworks
- Wider commercial awareness and understanding of the business and regulatory issues facing the non-life insurance industry
- Proficiency in specialised non-life software in one of areas such as pricing, reserving, capital management (for example, URS, ResQ, or other recognised)
- Good command of the English language

The PwC Actuarial and Risk Modelling Services (ARMS) team in Luxembourg is looking for a manager with a background in non-life insurance and reinsurance expertise to join our local actuarial practice of over 20 actuaries and risk modellers. This is one of the largest actuarial consulting teams in Luxembourg. As part of our dynamic and diverse team, you will work on complex problems and challenges related to reserving, pricing, risk or capital projects across the Luxembourg and broader European markets, as well as multidisciplinary projects in areas such as reinsurance optimisation and business transactions.
Your role will involve working with the ARMS team on non-life insurance projects alongside colleagues from different teams with diverse backgrounds to provide our clients with the best possible solutions. Depending on the project, you will either manage it or carry out the analytical work yourself.

- Provide actuarial consulting services, including risk pricing, reinsurance optimisation, business plan review and development, claims reserve review, risk and capital modelling, and other actuarial projects.

- You have at least 5 years of experience in reserving, pricing, capital or risk modelling in non-life insurance industry and/or consultancy. Alternatively, you have a background as a recognised non-life insurance consultant or have successfully delivered significant actuarial projects within the non-life insurance industry.
- You have practical experience with reinsurance, including planning, pricing, and optimisation, as well as Product design, risk transfer mechanisms, retrocession strategies, capital efficiency analysis, exposure modelling, and compliance with Solvency II and IFRS 17 frameworks.
