Job Summary

KSNW is seeking a proactive and solutions-driven IT Systems/Network Technician with a strong engineering mindset to support the full scope of information technology and digital broadcast workflows across the station. This role involves administering company IT policies, maintaining servers, network infrastructure, broadcast-related computing systems, domain services, and station-critical applications. The individual will also collaborate closely with Engineering on the installation, setup, and expansion of digital broadcast technologies, requiring continuous learning and adaptation in a fast-paced environment.

Must Have

  • Manage user accounts and security permissions through Active Directory / Intune
  • Provide desktop, mobile device, and user-level support across all departments
  • Install, configure, and maintain servers and workstations running Windows and Linux environments
  • Monitor, validate, and troubleshoot server backup and disaster recovery systems
  • Administer cybersecurity tools including antivirus, endpoint protection, and secure access services
  • Document system configurations, network diagrams, and maintenance procedures
  • Support the IT ticketing system by promptly responding to requests and ensuring high-quality issue resolution
  • Support critical broadcast and on-air systems including newsroom production servers, media storage, playout systems, graphics, and editing platforms
  • Configure and maintain switches, routers, VLANs, wireless networks, and VPN connectivity
  • Track and resolve network performance or security issues using monitoring tools
  • Provide after-hours support call rotation to ensure broadcast continuity and timely incident response
  • Maintain high customer service standards in support of News, Production, Promotion, Sales, and Engineering teams
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Broadcast Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Strong foundation in IT networking, system administration, and troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of VLAN configuration, IP subnetting, and secure VPN connectivity required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong multitasking abilities with attention to deadlines and broadcast-critical workflows
  • Self-starter mindset with a willingness to learn new equipment and systems
  • Ability to work extended or irregular hours when necessary to support live operations

Good to Have

  • Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco or Juniper certifications are a strong plus
  • Experience with media systems, video transport, or broadcast environments preferred
  • Familiarity with AV switching, digital workflows, encoding/decoding, and transcoding is a plus

The ideal hire will possess both technical knowledge and the initiative to continuously learn and adapt in a fast-paced broadcast environment.

This individual will be responsible for administering company IT policies and procedures, supporting and maintaining servers, network infrastructure, broadcast-related computing systems, domain services, RF-connected equipment, and station-critical applications. They will also collaborate closely with Engineering on installation, setup, and expansion of digital broadcast technologies.

Job Responsibilities

Core IT & Systems Support

  • Manage user accounts and security permissions through Active Directory / Intune
  • Provide desktop, mobile device, and user-level support across all departments
  • Install, configure, and maintain servers and workstations running Windows and Linux environments
  • Monitor, validate, and troubleshoot server backup and disaster recovery systems
  • Administer cybersecurity tools including antivirus, endpoint protection, and secure access services
  • Document system configurations, network diagrams, and maintenance procedures

Broadcast Technology & Engineering Collaboration

  • Support critical broadcast and on-air systems including newsroom production servers, media storage, playout systems, graphics, and editing platforms
  • Assist Engineering with system upgrades, IP-based routing, equipment integration, and infrastructure rollouts
  • Troubleshoot AV routing, video encoding/decoding workflows, file transfers, and streaming technologies
  • Support RF and transmitter-connected networking equipment as needed
  • Participate in preventive maintenance and engineering projects affecting studio, master control, and remote sites

Infrastructure & Network Administration

  • Configure and maintain switches, routers, VLANs, wireless networks, and VPN connectivity
  • Track and resolve network performance or security issues using monitoring tools
  • Provide after-hours support call rotation to ensure broadcast continuity and timely incident response

Other Expectations

  • Maintain high customer service standards in support of News, Production, Promotion, Sales, and Engineering teams
  • Participate in training and skill advancement; stay informed on emerging broadcast IT technologies
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements & Skills

Education & Technical Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Broadcast Engineering, or equivalent experience
