Job Description

The Camera Image Quality Engineer will be responsible for image quality tuning and strategy optimization for the camera's Image Signal Processor (ISP), including algorithms for noise reduction, sharpness, tone mapping, and contrast. The role involves performing preliminary end-to-end image quality verification, collaborating with internal teams, and delivering evaluation reports. It also includes conducting lab and field testing. Customer support will comprise 60-80% of the workload with 20% onsite availability required for business travel across the Asia-Pacific region and China.

Good To Have:

Background in image processing algorithms and image sensor characteristics
Proficiency in C++, MATLAB, or Python

Must Have:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field and 4+ years of experience
Experience in camera ISP tuning and image signal processing
Understanding of 3A algorithms (Auto Exposure, Auto White Balance, Auto Focus)

General Summary:

• Image quality tuning and strategy optimization for camera ISP, including algorithm tuning on temporal noise reduction, sharpness, tone mapping, and contrast.
• Perform preliminary end-to-end IQ verification and studies to enable faster response to next generation customer requirements.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and other departments, deliver well-substantiated evaluation reports and decisive conclusions with confidence.
• Conduct lab and field testing (objective and subjective) to evaluate image quality, behavior, and performance.
• 60%–80% workload for customer support; 20% onsite availability for business travel across APAC and China.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 5+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
• Master’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of relevant experience.
• PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in camera ISP tuning and image signal processing.
• Basic understanding of 3A algorithms (Auto Exposure, Auto White Balance, Auto Focus).

Preferred Qualifications:
• Familiarity with both objective and subjective image quality assessment methodologies.
• Experience with Snapdragon ISP is a plus.
• Background in image processing algorithms, image sensor characteristics, and optical system design.
• Proficiency in C++, MATLAB, or Python.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Good communication and understanding to translate customer request to technical language and solutions
• Experience in AI/machine learning-based image algorithm development is also a plus.
