Job Description

We are looking for an experienced CarPlay & Android Auto Architect to lead the design, integration, and optimization of wired and wireless smartphone projection technologies on next-generation automotive infotainment platforms. The role involves driving the end-to-end system architecture, ensuring compliance with Apple and Google certification standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams covering OS/middleware, connectivity, audio, and HMI. Key responsibilities include defining architecture, driving system-level design, ensuring scalability, guiding integration, validating session establishment, optimizing performance, debugging issues, and leading certification processes.

Must Have:
  • Define end-to-end architecture for CarPlay and Android Auto integration.
  • Drive system-level design covering projection, connectivity, audio, and HMI.
  • Ensure scalability and modularity of the projection stack.
  • Define coexistence strategy for CarPlay and Android Auto.
  • Guide teams in integrating and configuring projection frameworks.
  • Validate session establishment, pairing, authentication, and wireless handover.
  • Ensure end-to-end projection stability across mobile ecosystems.
  • Optimize video/audio streaming, latency, bandwidth, and startup performance.
  • Resolve Wi-Fi and Bluetooth coexistence issues with connectivity teams.
  • Provide technical guidance in debugging projection-related issues.
  • Lead root cause analysis for session drops, latency, or audio sync.
  • Define system-level KPIs and drive optimization for compliance.
  • Drive Apple (MFi, CarPlay) and Google (Android Auto) certification.
  • Collaborate with vendors and OEMs for technical alignment.
  • Support pre-certification validation and issue resolution.
  • Mentor development teams during integration and testing.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electronics, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
  • 10–14 years in automotive infotainment development, system architecture, or projection technology.

The role involves driving the end-to-end system architecture, ensuring compliance with Apple and Google certification standards, and collaborating with crossfunctional teams covering OS/middleware, connectivity, audio, and HMI.\n\n## YOUR ROLE\n### Key Responsibilities\n* Define end-to-end architecture for CarPlay and Android Auto (wired & wireless) integration on infotainment platforms (Android Automotive OS, QNX, Linux).\n* Drive system-level design covering projection, connectivity (USB, Wi-Fi, BT), audio routing, and HMI adaptation.\n* Ensure scalability and modularity of the projection stack within the overall infotainment system architecture.\n* Define coexistence strategy for CarPlay and Android Auto, ensuring smooth user experience and seamless switching.\n* Guide teams in integrating and configuring both projection frameworks (CarPlay & Android Auto).\n* Enable and validate session establishment, pairing, authentication (MFi, AOAP), and wireless handover flows.\n* Ensure end-to-end projection stability across various mobile ecosystems (Apple, Pixel, Samsung, etc.).\n* Review and optimize video/audio streaming, latency, bandwidth, and startup performance.\n* Work closely with connectivity teams to resolve Wi-Fi and Bluetooth coexistence issues.\n* Provide deep technical guidance in debugging projection-related issues using tools such as adb, Xcode logs, Wireshark, QXDM/QCAT, and internal debug utilities.\n* Lead root cause analysis for session drops, latency, or audio sync issues.\n* Define system-level KPIs and drive optimization for projection stability, performance, and compliance.\n* Drive Apple (MFi, CarPlay) and Google (Android Auto) certification and compliance processes.\n* Collaborate with vendors (Qualcomm, RF, connectivity suppliers) and OEMs for technical alignment.\n* Support pre-certification validation, regression testing, and issue resolution for certification approval.\n* Mentor development teams during integration, system validation, and vehicle-level testing.\n\n### Required Skills & Qualifications\n* Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electronics, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.\n* Experience: 10–14 years in automotive infotainment development, system architecture, or projection technology (CarPlay/Android Auto).\n\n#### Technical Expertise\n* In-depth knowledge of CarPlay and Android Auto projection frameworks and underlying protocols (USB, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth).\n* Strong understanding of Android Automotive OS, QNX/Linux middleware, and audio integration pipelines (A2DP, HFP, Siri, Google Assistant, navigation prompts).\n* Expertise in HMI integration, projection rendering, and system-level networking.\n* Experience in Google and Apple certification workflows.\n* Hands-on experience with Qualcomm platforms (SA8155, SA8295, SA6145) or equivalent SoCs.\n* Familiarity with coexistence handling (Wi-Fi + BT + LTE) and OTA/cloud update mechanisms.\n\n### Soft Skills\n* Strong system thinking, analytical, and debugging mindset.\n* Excellent cross-domain collaboration (Connectivity, Audio, Middleware, HMI, QA).\n* Effective OEM/customer communication and presentation skills.\n* Leadership qualities with the ability to guide development and integration teams.\n* Proactive and ownership-driven approach toward issue resolution and delivery excellence.\n\n## WHY JOIN US?\n* You can grow at Aptiv.
