Job Description

Responsible for managing all strategic sourcing activities for assigned categories, including vetting new suppliers, managing current supplier base, leading contract negotiations, and driving supplier performance. This role involves supervising and scouting categories for innovation, assisting in Quality Management System (QMS) audits, and ensuring compliance with purchasing regulations and quality standards. The Category Manager will also lead cost-saving projects and build strong supplier relationships.
Must have:
  • Perform all work in compliance with company policy and bioMérieux’s Quality System.
  • Adhere to Regulatory requirements, including FDA, ISO, Legal, Ethical, and bioMérieux-specific procedures.
  • Source a variety of materials, equipment, and services.
  • Master markets related to assigned categories/commodities, with a focus on soft-services.
  • Drive sourcing and strategic projects.
  • Prepare and lead supplier price, contract, and long-term agreement negotiations.
  • Design, lead, and implement cost savings projects.
  • Follow current Lean and Six Sigma, Kaizen Continuous Improvement principles.
  • Manage Global Suppliers within scope: contracts, CSR, performance, risk management, safety, and business review.
  • Monitor and measure supplier performance per Purchasing Cost Avoidance Plans (PCAP).
  • Build supplier relationships through frequent and effective communication.
  • Be the liaison between Suppliers and Internal Stakeholders.
  • Review departmental Standard Operating Procedure and Work Instruction Documents.
  • Facilitate Suppliers’ Business Reviews.
  • Master’s degree and 6 years of Purchasing experience OR Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of Purchasing experience.
Good to have:
  • Procurement experience preferred
  • Manufacturing experience preferred

Description

Responsible for managing all strategic sourcing activities for assigned categories in accordance with the prescribed purchasing regulations, processes, and procedures. Vet new suppliers and manage current supplier base through evaluating and minimizing supplier risk, lead contract negotiations, drive Supplier’s performance and serve as the liaison between supplier and organization. Manage sourcing projects during supplier assessment, selection, negotiation, and award phases. Supervise and scout assigned categories to leverage opportunities and innovation. Assist in the Quality Management System (QMS) audits/site supplier visits to ensure the relationship between both companies will meet bioMérieux’s capacity requirements, cost expectations, and quality standards.

Primary Duties

  • Perform all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of bioMérieux’s Quality System. Adhere to Regulatory requirements, including FDA, ISO, Legal, Ethical, and bioMérieux-specific procedures.
  • Source a variety of materials, equipment, and services in accordance with prescribed purchasing regulations and procedures
  • Master markets related to assigned categories/commodities, with a focus on soft-services. Seek of opportunities that serves Corporate priorities, including decarbonation.
  • Drive sourcing and strategic projects.
  • In collaboration with Legal, prepare and lead supplier price, contract, and long-term agreement negotiations.
  • Design, lead, and implement cost savings projects based on a structured project/savings roadmap.
  • Follow current Lean and Six Sigma, Kaizen Continuous Improvement principles, and mentor those principles to associates.
  • Manage Global Suppliers (Including tier 2) within his/her scope: contracts, CSR, performance, risk management, safety, and business review.
  • Monitor and measure supplier performance per Purchasing Cost Avoidance Plans (PCAP) to ensure the company is receiving fair market pricing by utilizing appropriate trends and reporting tools.
  • Build supplier relationships through frequent and effective communication of business, quality, and cost by interacting with current suppliers, consistently seeking opportunities to improve those partnerships to ensure a long-term positive relationship, and continuing to seek out supplier talent for future opportunities that best serves bioMerieux current and future priorities.
  • Be the liaison between Suppliers and Internal Stakeholders with the notion of “Extended Entreprise”. Effectively resolve disputes, hold crucial conversations, and recommend solutions to identify the root cause and correct problems as needed.
  • Review departmental Standard Operating Procedure and Work Instruction Documents for relevancy and accuracy.
  • Facilitate Suppliers’ Business Reviews in collecting and preparing for each review.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Economics, Operations and 6 years of Purchasing experience
  • OR Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Economics, Operations and 10 years of Purchasing experience
  • Procurement experience preferred
  • Manufacturing experience preferred

Domestic travel – 10%

International travel – 5%
