Insomniac Games is seeking a Character Artist for a contract role. The artist will be responsible for creating models, textures, and materials for characters and other key assets. Responsibilities include creating high-resolution and low-resolution models, UV layouts, textures, and materials. The role requires close collaboration with the Lead Character Artist and Art Director to maintain style consistency. The artist will also optimize assets for quality and performance, integrate and check assets in-game, and utilize advanced knowledge of anatomy to ensure functional and aesthetically pleasing models. Communication with Rigging and Animation Departments is crucial for model deformation, and active participation in technical and artistic problem-solving is expected.
Must have:
  • Create models, textures, and materials for characters and assets

Job Details

Insomniac Games is looking for a Character Artist. In this role, the Character Artist is responsible for creating models, textures, and materials for characters and other key assets for studios titles?

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Creates high-resolution models, low-resolution models, UV layouts, textures and materials for characters, weapons, and props.
  • Works closely with Lead Character Artist to maintain consistent style under the direction of the Art Director.
  • Optimizes models and textures to ensure quality and performance.
  • Integrates and checks character assets in context in the game to identify scale and design issues.
  • Uses advanced knowledge of human and animal anatomy to ensure that models achieve a high level of functionality and design aesthetics.
  • Meets with other artists to discuss style and technique and maintain visual consistency.
  • Communicates with Rigging and Animation Departments to ensure models deform correctly and are functional.
  • Actively participates in technical and artistic problem solving by communicating with other members of the team and other departments
  • Solves problems with visual design; fills in the gaps between concept art and modeling.
  • Other duties may be required.

Education and/or Experience: Five plus years related experience and/or training/education; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
