AECOM is a global infrastructure consulting firm. This role is for an experienced Civil Engineer in the New England Transportation group, focusing on roadway and highway design. Responsibilities include developing roadway design projects, creating MOT plans, collaborating on infrastructure projects, performing engineering calculations, preparing detailed drawings, and mentoring junior engineers. The role requires a BA/BS in Civil Engineering and at least 4 years of experience, with a PE License in MA or ability to obtain reciprocity.
Must have:
  • Develop and execute roadway design projects, including geometric design, drainage systems, and pavement design.
  • Create and implement Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plans.
  • Collaborate with colleagues throughout New England Region on highway/bridge infrastructure projects.
  • Perform engineering calculations and analyses to support project designs.
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for transportation projects.
  • Conduct site visits and field investigations to gather data.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals, reports, and technical presentations.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
  • Ensure quality control and adherence to project schedules and budgets.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
  • Participate in public meetings and stakeholder consultations.
  • Assist in obtaining necessary permits and approvals.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of AECOM'S engineering processes.
  • BA/BS in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 4 years of experience in designing roadways for transportation projects.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in MA or ability to obtain license reciprocity within six months of hire.
Good to have:
  • 6 years of experience designing roadways for transportation projects.
  • Experience with designs and plans production for transportation/civil infrastructure projects including calculations.
  • Experience and ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment in the solution of work problems.
  • Experience using OpenRoads and/or Civil 3D design software packages for conceptual and detailed design.
  • Ability to communicate effectively; verbal and written.

AECOM's New England Transportation group is actively seeking a highly motivated experienced Civil Engineer with experience in roadway and highway design. Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and execute roadway design projects, including geometric design, drainage systems, and pavement design.
  • Create and implement Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plans to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow during construction phases.
  • Collaborate with colleagues throughout New England Region on highway/bridge infrastructure projects for multiple state, local and municipal clients.
  • Perform engineering calculations and analyses to support project designs and ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for transportation projects.
  • Conduct site visits and field investigations to gather data and assess existing conditions.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, environmental specialists, and construction managers.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals, reports, and technical presentations for clients and stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on project-related tasks.
  • Ensure quality control and adherence to project schedules and budgets.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in transportation engineering.
  • Participate in public meetings and stakeholder consultations to present project information and address concerns.
  • Assist in obtaining necessary permits and approvals from regulatory agencies.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of AECOM'S engineering processes and methodologies.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Civil Engineering or related field + 4 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Experience designing roadways for transportation projects.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in MA or ability to obtain license reciprocity within six months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6 years of experience designing roadways for transportation projects.
  • Experience with designs and plans production for transportation/civil infrastructure projects including calculations.
  • Experience and ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment in the solution of work problems.
  • Experience using OpenRoads and/or Civil 3D design software packages for the conceptual and detailed design of horizontal and vertical alignments, sections, and 3D modeling on highway projects.
  • Ability to communicate effectively; verbal and written.
