Job Description

As a Client Finance Controller (m/w/d) at Hogarth, you will play a crucial role in building our agency's controlling function. You will work closely with the CFO and Client Service Teams to improve data transparency, finance process structures, planning certainty, and profitability. Your focus will be on Client and Project Finance, while also supporting FP&A tasks. This role involves financial project and client management, profitability optimization, compliance & reporting, budgeting & forecasting, performance analysis, and strategic support.
Good To Have:
  • Experience in the agency industry or a comparable environment (e.g., film, television, advertising) is an advantage.
  • Power BI knowledge is an advantage.
  • Hands-on mentality, independent working style, and strong communication skills.
  • Commercial contract drafting (prospectively): supporting the negotiation of commercial terms, especially ratecards, for new and existing clients.
  • Efficiency improvement: advising Client Service Teams on optimizing resource allocation and efficiency.
Must Have:
  • Financial project and client management: monitoring project performance against budgets, conducting actual-vs-target analyses, correct revenue recognition and deferral, and ensuring correct booking of client-related business transactions.
  • Profitability optimization: determining client profitability and supporting the development of measures to improve profitability.
  • Compliance & Reporting: ensuring compliance with accounting standards, preparing client-specific reports, and collaborating with internal/external finance teams for monthly closings and audits.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: coordinating the annual budget process and quarterly forecasts, especially for client revenues and personnel costs.
  • Performance Analysis & Reporting: building forecasting models, analyzing monthly closings to identify trends and potentials, and developing a management information system for agency management.
  • Strategic Support: conducting ad-hoc analyses to support strategic initiatives and investment decisions.
  • Completed degree in Business Administration or a comparable qualification.
  • Min. 2 years of professional experience as Controller, Client Finance or a similar position.
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel.
  • Very good German and English language skills, written and spoken.

Als Client Finance Controller (w/m/d) spielst du eine entscheidende Rolle beim Aufbau unseres Agentur-Controllings. Du arbeitest eng mit der CFO und den Client Service Teams zusammen, um unsere Daten-Transparenz, die Strukturen in den Finance-Abläufen und damit die Planungssicherheit sowie die Rentabilität zu verbessern. Du verstehst dich dabei als Teil des übergeordneten Finance-Teams, in der Schnittstelle zur WPP Shared Finance (Billing, Accounting, Controlling/Reporting). Dein Fokus liegt auf Client- und Project Finance, während du in weiten Teilen die FP&A-Aufgaben unterstützt. Ab sofort suchen wir engagierte Verstärkung am Standort Hamburg.

Your Role at Hogarth

Client/Project Finance:
