The CNC Machinist operates CNC machines to fabricate parts, loads parts, cycles machines, and detects malfunctions. This role involves running production lots, communicating with co-workers, and maintaining a safe work environment. Duties include planning machining, programming lathes, setting up mills, verifying settings, and inspecting products. The position is temporary-to-permanent, with training on day shift before transitioning to night shift hours.
Must have:

  • Performs inspection of machined products and documents results.
  • Completes and maintains paperwork for parts.
  • Assists in other work areas like fabrication and sand blasting.

Job Summary:

The CNC machinist operates CNC machines to fabricate parts. The CNC machinist loads parts in the machine, cycles machine and detects malfunctions in machine operators, such as worn or damaged cutting tools. The position runs production lots, communicates with co-workers regarding production runs, and maintains a safe, organized and clean work environment.

Shift Hours:

CNC Machinists will train on days. Hours include 6:00am - 4:00pm. This role is a night shift opportunity, so once the employee is fully trained we will transition to night shift. Night shift hours at 3:30pm - 1:30am.

Functional Job Duties:

  • Plans machining from work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, drawings, etc.
  • Programs lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points, setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches, and calculations.
  • Set up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers.
  • Verifies settings and maintains specifications.
  • Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to management.
  • Maintains work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follows safety procedures.
  • Performs inspection of machined products, and document results.
  • Completes and maintains paperwork for parts.
  • Assist in other work areas to perform fabrication, lay-up, infiltration, furnace operations, and sand blasting tasks.

Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will have at least 3-5 years of demonstrated experience with machining on CNC lathes.
