Job Description

This 6-month full-time co-op opportunity at Philips in New Kensington is for undergraduate students pursuing a BS degree. Are you interested in a 6 month co-op opportunity with Philips? We welcome individuals who are currently pursuing an undergraduate (BS) degree to participate in paid opportunities at our site in New Kensington. Through this role you will gain meaningful, hands-on experience working for a HealthTech company.

Your role:

  • Supports biological safety evaluations of materials, components, and finished devices used in sleep and respiratory care products, under direct supervision.
  • Assists in reviewing material composition data, supplier documentation, and manufacturing process information to support biological risk assessments and compliance with ISO 10993 and related regulatory standards.
  • Organizes, tracks, and curates’ biological safety data and test reports to ensure traceability and accessibility for ongoing and future evaluations.
  • Contributes to the development of Biological Evaluation Plans (BEPs) and Biological Evaluation Reports (BERs) by compiling background data, drafting sections, and ensuring adherence to applicable standards and company policies.
  • Performs literature searches and toxicological data gathering to support material safety justifications and hazard assessments.

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biological Sciences, Materials Science or Chemical Engineering,
  • You have detailed experience analyzing chemical and physical properties of materials to draw scientific conclusions
  • Experience using test instrumentation and equipment in and out of a Lab environment
  • You’re able to collaborate with other (technical) disciplines, external partners, and companies

How we work together

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.

Philips Transparency Details

The hourly pay range for this position is $25.00 to $29.00, plus overtime eligible. The actual base pay offered may vary within the posted ranges depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.
