This position is responsible for all phases of a Vertex Tax Technology implementation, including project planning, requirements definition, system configuration, testing, and documentation. The role involves project accountability while delivering services to deploy Vertex tax technology products. Requires Vertex product knowledge and the ability to connect applications with host applications. The role also involves the ability to identify and deliver tax process solutions and other value-added services. The job requires managing Vertex projects independently, providing project oversight, collaborating with consultants, coordinating as project lead and manager, developing leadership traits, and exercising sound judgment in managing client relationships. This includes providing customer satisfaction and assisting with statements of work.
Must have:

Job Description:

This position is responsible for all phases of a Vertex Tax Technology implementation, including performing project planning, requirements definition, system configuration, testing, knowledge transfer, and development of custom documentation. This role has project accountability while delivering services and project deliverables in support of the deployment of Vertex tax technology products. This role requires Vertex product knowledge and knowledge of how Vertex applications connect with host applications. The role may also require the ability to effectively identify and deliver tax process solutions and other value-added services that contribute to Vertex’s revenue and profit objectives.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Independently manage and ensure all phases of Vertex projects including, review and analysis of client requirements, solution design and build, testing and providing client support as needed, is accomplished.
  • Provide project oversight and collaborate with less experienced Vertex Consultants on implementation projects tasks while executing on client’s statement of work (SOW).
  • Coordination as Project Lead and Project Manager on several projects and provide guidance, direction and assign project tasks in support of SOW and project.
  • Continue developing leadership traits, gains industry knowledge and project implementation skills and takes guidance from Principal Vertex Consultants and Practice Leads and contributes to projects as needed.
  • Exercise sound judgment to manage the day to day client relationship and expectations.
  • Responsible for maintaining a high degree of customer satisfaction
  • When appropriate assist consulting Business Development in developing statements of work.
  • Assist with the on-boarding and training and development of new team members
  • Participate in other projects or duties.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • N/A

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of implementation/consulting, customer service and vendor practices.
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies and implementation/testing techniques appropriate to Windows, Legacy and/or client server database applications.
  • Technical knowledge of Operating Systems (Windows, Linx, Unix) and system hardware (CPU, RAM, HD).
  • Knowledge of REST, SOAP and other communication protocols and how to troubleshoot/use them.
  • Knowledge of databases, such as Oracle, SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
  • Working knowledge of Linux and or Unix systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, work in a team environment and understand the be responsive to project and customer needs.
  • Ability to adapt and function effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment, while working under deadlines.
  • Solid analytical, presentation, troubleshooting and design skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • ERP knowledge a plus.
  • Effective time management skills
  • Has or has gained knowledge and understanding of the Vertex business, our industry and marketplace.
  • Ability to work overtime, holidays, and weekends based on business need.
  • Ability to listen and understand information and communicate the same.
  • Must possess good organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office packages.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline or equivalent
  • Ten (10) plus years of relevant experience in a corporate environment
  • In-depth tax application experience working with public accounting firms and/or fortune 1000 companies in the area of transaction tax (e.g., multi-state/VAT).
  • Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
