As the Collections Manager, North America – HealthCare & Life Sciences, you will lead a team of 30+ professionals within the Customer Excellence Team, focusing on improving cash collections and Accounts Receivable (AR) health for enterprise healthcare and life sciences clients. This role requires implementing a cash-first mindset, balancing business performance with a customer-centric approach, and driving significant financial health improvements for Iron Mountain.

Must Have:
  • Lead, mentor, and coach a team of 30+ collections professionals.
  • Drive superior cash collections performance, ensuring strong AR health.

  • Leverage critical thinking to resolve complex customer payment issues.
  • Lead strategic customer negotiations with empathy and business acumen.
  • Partner with Sales, Finance, Billing, and Customer Care for process alignment.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the A2C cycle.
  • Ensure adoption of collections best practices, including automated dunning.
  • 5+ years experience in collections, cash management, or Accounts Receivable.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Proven success in improving collections, reducing DSO, and managing BDE.
  • In-depth knowledge of Agreement-to-Cash (A2C) processes and metrics.
  • Strong leadership and team development capabilities.
  • Advanced problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and coach a team of 30+ collections professionals across multiple functions and geographies.
  • Drive superior cash collections performance, ensuring strong AR health and exceeding targets for Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) and Bad Debt Expense (BDE).
  • Instill a customer-centric culture and a cash-first mindset across the entire Agreement-to-Cash (A2C) process.
  • Leverage critical thinking and root cause analysis to efficiently resolve complex customer payment issues and aging receivables.
  • Lead strategic customer negotiations and conversations with empathy, urgency, and strong business acumen.
  • Partner closely with Sales, Finance, Billing, and Customer Care to ensure seamless process alignment and first-time resolution.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the A2C cycle to eliminate recurring issues and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Ensure the adoption of collections best practices, including automated dunning cycles and proactive customer outreach.

Key Skills and Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in collections, cash management, or Accounts Receivable, focused on enterprise and strategic accounts.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. An advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) is strongly preferred.
  • Proven success in improving collections, reducing DSO, and managing BDE in complex, multinational environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Agreement-to-Cash (A2C) processes and performance metrics.
  • Strong leadership and team development capabilities, including performance coaching and talent growth.
  • Advanced problem-solving and critical thinking skills with a track record of resolving complex customer scenarios and aged AR.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer satisfaction and achieving first-time resolution.
  • Proficiency in ERP and CRM systems; experience with Oracle, Salesforce, or ServiceNow is preferred.
