Job Description

As part of our lively and energetic finance team, the Commercial Partner works closely with the client services team to manage a portfolio of clients. You'll ensure accurate revenue recognition, financial reporting, and compliance, while providing crucial insights into profitability and working capital to support strategic decisions. Your proactive approach and strong business partnering skills will be essential in identifying opportunities and fostering strong relationships.
Must have:
  • Complete revenue recognition and reporting per WPP Policies and IFRS.
  • Ensure SOX compliance processes are in place.
  • Review documentation for month-end revenue recognition.
  • Prepare and send journals with supporting documentation for posting.
  • Ensure all finance systems are aligned at month-end close.
  • Conduct weekly revenue meetings with Client Services to review project status, risks, and opportunities.
  • Monitor contract compliance, create crib sheets, and provide training on key commercial areas.
  • Provide data and analysis on revenue, profitability, and under/over servicing.
  • Analyze and interpret data to support decision-making.
  • Prepare realization, profitability, and utilization reports for client portfolio.
  • Review WIP balances and manage aging to ensure no balances over 30 days.
  • Ensure all costs and fees, including intercompany, are billed on time.
  • Document and seek approval for credit notes, revenue reversals, or write-offs.
  • Support accurate accounting of fee sharing for Inter-Office Agreements.
  • Set up new clients, including due diligence per WPP policy.
  • Review AR reports, follow up, and resolve queries/issues with Financeplus.
  • Prepare monthly working capital reports for CFO and Senior Commercial Partner.
  • Provide input for monthly management information packs, including variance analysis.
  • Support Senior Commercial Partner with budget and forecast cycle.
  • Support client services with proposals and RFPs as required.
  • Support Senior Commercial Partner with internal, external, or client audits.
  • Support commercial financial induction for all Client Service new starters.

What you’ll do

As part of our lively and energetic finance team, the Commercial Partner works closely with the client services team to manage a portfolio of clients. You'll ensure accurate revenue recognition, financial reporting, and compliance, while providing crucial insights into profitability and working capital to support strategic decisions. Your proactive approach and strong business partnering skills will be essential in identifying opportunities and fostering strong relationships.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complete revenue recognition and reporting in accordance with WPP Policies and IFRS for client portfolio for month end/year end
  • Ensure processes in place for SOX compliance
  • Reviewing documentation for month end revenue recognition
  • Preparing journals with supporting documentation and sending to Financeplus for posting
  • Ensure that at month end close all finance systems (Maconomy, Sugar and SAP BFC) are in alignment
  • Weekly revenue meetings with Client Services to review project status of assigned portfolio of clients. Identifying any risks or opportunities. Flag any concerns to Senior Commercial Partner.
  • Monitoring contract compliance and creation of crib sheets that highlight key commercial areas account teams should be aware of and provide training accordingly
  • Provide data and analysis for revenue focussing on profitability and flagging under/over servicing.
  • Analyse, and interpret data to support decision making.
  • Preparation of realisation, profitability and utilisation reporting for client portfolio.

What you’ll need

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Part Qualified Accountant CIMA/ACCA
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel
  • Finance system experience, preferably Maconomy
  • A strong understanding of IFRS15 and SOX controls required
  • Solid technical knowledge of P&L and Balance sheet
