As a Cost Accounting Analyst in the Finance team at Wabtec de México, you will be responsible for generating accounting records for material, quality, manufacturing, and remanufacturing activities to ensure accurate inventory valuation and financial analysis. You will also handle short- and medium-term financial planning and establish internal controls for asset safeguarding. This role involves continuous interaction with production areas.

  • Proficiency in cost and budget analysis
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Oracle

At Wabtec de México, Industrial Zone of San Luis Potosí, we are leaders in the production of pneumatic brake equipment, supplying a market of 45,000 railway cars per year; under a maquiladora company work scheme, our annual exports are equivalent to an estimated 3,250 million pesos only in the state of San Luis Potosí.

Since 1869, Wabtec has continuously led the industry, constantly improving its design to meet safety and efficiency needs in the railway sector. As market leaders, 6 out of 10 freight railway cars built in Mexico, the United States, and Canada have Wabtec air brake systems proudly manufactured from San Luis Potosí.

How will you make a difference?

As a member of the Finance team in the Cost and Administrative Accounting area, in the position of Cost Accounting Analyst, your main responsibilities will be to generate accounting records of the activity carried out by Materials, Quality, manufacturing and remanufacturing of products for the correct valuation of company inventories, thus ensuring the information required for the interpretation of financial analyses. Carry out the company's short and medium-term financial planning. Establish internal controls that allow the assurance and safeguarding of company assets.

This position will report directly to the Cost Accounting and Budgets Coordination.

What do we want to know about you?

The career requirements for this position are:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Accounting, with at least 1 year of experience in its respective application.
  • Knowledge of cost and budget accounting.
  • Cost and budget analysis.
  • Microsoft Office and Oracle.
  • Teamwork with planning, production, materials, finance, and Human Resources areas.

What will your typical day be like?

  • Review and freeze unit costs of raw materials and manufactured products in the Company.
  • Prepare the calculation of M.O. and Overhead rates for the integration of the Standard Cost for the Technology and WSC divisions.
  • Transfer to Accounting all transactions carried out for the purchase of goods and services, backflush, transfers between sub-inventories, adjustments and rejections of materials incurred in production, adjustments to the annual physical inventory, and other production-related transactions.
  • Generate theoretical inventory reports and prepare reconciliation with accounting records.
  • Calculation of inventory turnover and valuation of historical inventories for USGAPP purposes.
  • Analysis of inventories and Balance Sheet accounts, by determining indicators (Common Measures) that allow explanations of the variables that occur month by month.
  • Determination of production and sales cost for the divisions: Wabtec Technology, Wabtec Service Center.
  • Preparation of monthly product line income statement reports, financial reports such as Forecast, annual STRAP, annual budget, using information collected from each management that allows forecasting and budgeting monthly and annual operations respectively with the aim of measuring the company's profitability and liquidity.
  • Integrate monthly and per cost center overhead to record in the system by division based on the annual budget.
  • Coordination of activities for the monthly closing, verifying that the recording in books of all operations carried out is correct.
  • Review and validation of adjustments derived from cyclical physical counts.
  • Supplier audit program that receives and returns materials with the aim of monitoring their custody through their external process.

What about the physical demands of the job?

The work is mainly carried out in an office environment, but it is important to have continuous interaction with the production areas to ensure understanding of operational requirements, for which basic safety equipment must be used.
