Job Summary
Critical Mass is seeking a Creative Engineer to bridge design, technology, and automation. This role involves translating brand guidelines into dynamic creative templates using in-house tools like Figma and After Effects plugins. The engineer will build, animate, and refine automated creative systems, collaborate with product teams to improve workflows, and explore AI-based solutions. The position requires a systems-driven mindset to create scalable solutions that adapt to strategy and performance data, ensuring high quality and detailed documentation.
Must Have
- Translate brand guidelines and static designs into dynamic, on-brand template systems.
- Build, animate, and refine automated creative templates using Figma and After Effects plugins.
- Create mock-ups and visual examples to present creative systems and dynamic concepts to clients.
- Collaborate with the product team to test, feedback, and improve internal tools and automation workflows.
- Explore and contribute to the development of new AI-based creative solutions.
- Create and maintain detailed Template Guides for each project.
- Prepare, crop, and optimise assets for use within templates.
- Partner with strategists and developers to ensure creative templates align with campaign logic and data-driven objectives.
- Maintain exceptional organisation, quality, and attention to detail across all builds.
- Strong proficiency in Figma and After Effects.
- 2+ years of design experience.
Good to Have
- Strong background in visual or motion design.
- Curiosity about automation, creative systems, and AI.
- Enjoy structured problem solving and logical thinking alongside hands-on creative work.
- Proactive and confident in sharing ideas for how to improve tools or workflows.
- Take pride in producing clear, precise documentation and beautifully structured templates.
- Like working collaboratively with designers, developers, and product teams.
- Experience in DCO, programmatic, or ad tech environments.
- Familiarity with creative render pipelines or light coding (e.g. HTML, GSAP, JSON).
- Understanding of data-driven creative systems.

We’re looking for a Creative Engineer — a creative problem solver with a strong design foundation and a systems-driven mindset. This role sits at the intersection of design, technology, and automation. You’ll help bring client brands to life within dynamic creative templates, using our in-house tools to create scalable systems that adapt to strategy and performance data.
You Will:
- Translate brand guidelines and static designs into dynamic, on-brand template systems.
- Use our custom Figma and After Effects plugins to build, animate, and refine automated creative templates.
- Create mock-ups and visual examples to present creative systems and dynamic concepts to clients.

- High attention to detail and consistency across assets and templates.
- 2+ years of design experience.
- Experience in DCO, programmatic, or ad tech environments.
- Familiarity with creative render pipelines or light coding (e.g. HTML, GSAP, JSON).
- Understanding of data-driven creative systems.
- Curiosity around AI tools and their role in creative production.
