Job Summary

Dovetail Games is seeking a data-focused analyst to build reliable data pipelines, enhance data quality, and deliver actionable insights. This role involves optimizing ETL/ELT processes, developing data models, designing reports and dashboards, and performing exploratory data analysis to improve gameplay and business decisions. The position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact within a collaborative team, influencing game growth and marketing strategies.

Must Have

  • Assist in setting up and optimizing data pipelines (ETL/ELT)
  • Contribute to the development of data models and ensure data accuracy
  • Design and maintenance of reports, dashboards, and visualizations
  • Perform exploratory data analysis across game systems
  • Work closely with gameplay developers and production stakeholders
  • Familiar with Databricks for data pipelines and analytics workflows
  • Skilled in using Tableau Desktop for dashboards and visual reports
  • Strong command of SQL for querying large, complex datasets
  • Familiar with AWS and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including BigQuery and Redshift

Good to Have

  • A strong interest or passion for gaming, with a good understanding of player behaviour and game mechanics
  • Highly self-motivated with excellent organizational and communication skills

Job requirements

  • Data Project & Workflow Build: Assist in setting up and optimizing data pipelines (ETL/ELT) to collect, process, and analyse data from diverse sources, including in-game telemetry, sales, marketing, and social media platforms.
  • Data Modelling & Data Quality: Contribute to the development of data models and help ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability to support effective decision-making by game analysts and business stakeholders.
  • Reporting & Visualization: Design and maintenance of reports, dashboards, and visualizations that provide actionable insights across teams.
  • Data Mining & Gameplay Analysis: Perform exploratory data analysis across game systems to identify trends and potential friction points in player engagement, helping to inform design and product decisions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with gameplay developers and production stakeholders to ensure in-game tracking plans aligns with analytical and operational needs.

What we look for in you:

  • Familiar with Databricks for building and managing scalable data pipelines and analytics workflows
  • Skilled in using Tableau Desktop to create clear, insightful dashboards and visual reports for stakeholders
  • Strong command of SQL, with hands-on experience querying large, complex datasets to extract actionable insights
  • Familiar with AWS and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including working with BigQuery and Redshift as data sources
  • A strong interest or passion for gaming, with a good understanding of player behaviour and game mechanics
  • Highly self-motivated with excellent organizational, and communication skills - both verbal and written
