The Data Science team empowers Thumbtack to use data to guide business decisions. We collaborate with partners across the company to solve the most analytically challenging problems -- everything from informing how we set prices across almost a thousand local services categories, to evaluating the impact of a new business model on company performance, to identifying early predictors of high-quality customers. We are a tight-knit, intellectually curious team that is committed to improving Thumbtack and improving each other.
There are two open roles, one on the trust safety and payment team, and the other on the partnership team.
The Trust Safety and Payment team maximize user trust and minimize risk by building a resilient, compliant, and seamless financial and safety ecosystem that empowers every Thumbtack user. The team’s work entails proactively identifying and mitigating risks that could harm our users, our platform, our reputation, or incurring significant financial/legal liabilities; strategically investing in opportunities that unlock new revenue streams, reduce operational costs, and build foundational capabilities for future expansion.
The Partnerships organization drives growth by integrating with strategic external partners to bring high-intent demand into our marketplace. As part of the product team, our mission is to transform the right partnerships into scalable, impactful product experiences. Our work spans APIs, embedded widgets, and partner-facing surfaces that connect Thumbtack with platforms like Amazon Alexa, OpenAI, and Nextdoor.
As a data scientist on one of these teams, you will collaborate closely with a world class cross-functional team (including product managers, engineers, designers, marketers, etc.) in developing new product features and improving user experience. You will derive insights from data, inform decision-decision making, and influence product strategy and roadmap, empower the team to build the best product and experience for Thumbtack’s customers.
