Job Summary

Critical Mass is seeking a Designer - Social Media Content to experiment with new ideas for major brands. This role focuses on creating diverse social media content, including graphic design, short-form video, and photography, specifically for social channels. The ideal candidate will be creative, courageous in editing, and driven to make social media more engaging, with a bias towards making things.

Must Have

  • Create social media posts across graphic design, short-form video, photography, digital collage, and other media types as required
  • Collaborate with creative partners to pitch post concepts and sketch out ideas
  • Be the primary creative resource on new business, helping to set and rapidly evolve creative tone
  • Stay up to date on current trends and formats, identifying contextual opportunities for clients
  • Be a vocal, contributing member of the CM Social Team, openly sharing ideas
  • 3-5 years experience creating content for brand or media social accounts
  • Multi-hyphenate creative capabilities (graphic design, photography, video editing, copywriting for social media formats)
  • Boundless creative energy and resilience to feedback
  • Platform-specific expertise with nuances of different social media platforms
  • Collaborative spirit, preferring to build on teammates' ideas
  • Ability to deliver on a deadline
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud and Figma
  • Hands-on experience with brand social content creation or publishing
  • Strong presentation abilities
  • Experience delivering creative in restrictive environments (e.g., tight legal restrictions)
  • Experience working with influencers & creators (or as one)
  • An affinity for Instagram and Tik Tok in particular
  • Comfortable with Edits and CapCut

Job Description

We are looking for someone with a wide range of creative skills and an inclination to experiment with new ideas with some of the biggest brands in the world. All the content you will create in this role will be specifically designed for social media channels – so you won’t need to be the world’s biggest expert in Adobe Premiere if you’re comfortable with Edits and CapCut. To be successful in this role, you’ll have a bias towards making things, be courageous through the editing process, and be driven to make social media just a bit more interesting.

You will:

  • Create social media posts across a range of media types – graphic design, short-form video, photography, digital collage, and others as required
  • Collaborate with creative partners to pitch post concepts and sketch out ideas to get them sold
  • Be the primary creative resource on a piece of new business – meaning you’ll be able to help set a fresh creative tone and evolve it rapidly
  • Stay up to date on current trends and formats and identify opportunities that make contextual sense for your clients
  • Become a vocal, contributing member of the CM Social Team that openly shares their ideas

You have:

  • 3-5 years experience creating content, in whole or in part, on behalf of brand or media social accounts
  • Multi-hyphenate creative capabilities: you can do a little bit of everything – graphic design, photography, video editing, copywriting – particularly within social media formats
  • Boundless creative energy: you’ve been told “no” before and that doesn’t phase you – you’re ready to dream up more ideas until you land on something really unique
  • Platform-specific expertise: you have a strong understanding of the nuances of different social media platforms and can craft your ideas to succeed on a single platform
  • Collaborative spirit: you don’t play “hero ball” – you prefer to “yes, and…” your teammates and work to make each other’s ideas even better
  • The ability to deliver on a deadline
  • Familiarity with our tools: Adobe Creative Cloud and Figma
  • Hands-on experience with brand social content creation or publishing
  • Strong presentation abilities
  • Experience delivering creative in restrictive environments (tight legal restrictions, small creative sandboxes, etc)
  • Experience working with influencers & creators (or experience working AS one)
  • An affinity for Instagram and Tik Tok in particular

Base salaries are determined during our interview process, by assessing a number of factors that include, but aren’t limited to, a candidate’s experience and skills relative to the scope and responsibilities of the position. For current CM employees, tenure will also be a consideration.

Salary Range

$65,000 - $70,000 USD
