Job Summary
ReversingLabs is seeking a Detection Efficacy Engineer to design, execute, and communicate detection efficacy, false-positive, and performance evaluations for its software supply chain security and threat intelligence products. The role involves technical testing, data analysis, and result interpretation to support product improvement and customer reporting, focusing on real-world detection quality and performance in collaboration with product, engineering, and data teams.
Must Have
- Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- Experience in software or security testing
- Solid scripting and data analysis skills (e.g., Python, R, or similar)
- Basic understanding of statistics and test and dataset design
- Basic understanding of malware, threat classification, and false positives
- Good written communication skills in English
- Collaborative and structured approach to testing and documentation
Good to Have
- Experience working with malicious and clean datasets
- Familiarity with false-positive analysis, threat classification, or threat-level evaluation
- Exposure to AMTSO or 3rd-party testing methodologies, or industry comparative testing
- Interest in ML-based detection evaluation or statistical model validation
- Curiosity about data quality and quantitative validation of detection results

Role Overview
We are looking for an engineer with a strong analytical mindset to design, execute, and communicate detection efficacy, false-positive, and performance evaluations across ReversingLabs products.
This position combines technical testing, data analysis, and result interpretation to support both internal product improvement and customer-facing efficacy reporting. The focus is on understanding and demonstrating real-world detection quality and performance while working closely with product, engineering, and data teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and run efficacy and performance tests for ReversingLabs products and components.
- Measure and report detection accuracy, false-positive rates, and scan performance on internal and representative external datasets.
- Produce structured efficacy reports for customers and internal stakeholders that clearly explain strengths, trade-offs, and paths for improvement.
- Build and maintain benchmark datasets (malicious, suspicious, and clean samples) for repeatable testing.
- Develop automation pipelines and dashboards together with other teams to track detection quality and performance over time.
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to identify and validate detection improvements.
- Support sales and customer success with data-driven materials demonstrating detection quality.
- Ensure transparency and reproducibility through clear test design and documentation
Requirements
