Job Description

The DFMEA Engineer will lead and moderate DFMEA meetings, becoming a subject matter expert in Plato e1ns DFMEA software. This role involves training engineering teams on DFMEA tools and methodology, creating and improving templates, and incorporating lessons learned to prevent failures. The engineer will support design reviews, collaborate with engineering centers and customers on DFMEA development, and align with manufacturing and quality teams. Additionally, the position requires supporting internal and external audits to ensure compliance with customer requirements, particularly regarding DFMEA and special characteristics.
Must have:
  • Lead and moderate DFMEA creation/review meetings.
  • Become SME and coach of Plato e1ns DFMEA software.
  • Contribute to engineering team problem solving.
  • Train/coach engineering teams in DFMEA tools.
  • Create/Monitor/Improve DFMEA templates.
  • Review Lessons Learned and update FMEA templates.
  • Support design review and approval process.
  • Collaborate with engineering centers and customers.
  • Establish relationships with manufacturing and quality teams.
  • Support internal/external audits for adherence.
Good to have:
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly process of wire harness components / assemblies
  • Knowledge of vehicle assembly process
  • Experience with direct customer interface
  • Automotive industry background

Job Details

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and moderate DFMEA creation/review meetings.
  • Become subject matter expert (SME) and organization coach of Plato e1ns DFMEA software platform.
  • Contribute to engineering team problem solving discussions / meetings.
  • Train/ coach engineering teams in proper use of DFMEA tools and methodology.
  • Create / Monitor / Improve DFMEA templates by product line.
  • Review Lessons Learned and validation failures and update FMEA templates to enhance failure avoidance
  • Support the design review and approval process
  • Collaborate closely with Aptiv’s engineering centers and customers to develop DFMEAs as defined by project scope
  • Establish and maintain relationships with manufacturing and quality teams to align with DFMEA methodology and templates with PFMEAs and Control Plans
  • Support internal / external audits; ensuring adherence to customer specific requirements (especially DFMEA & special characteristics) as defined by IATF

REQUIREMENTS, Competencies/Skills:

  • Engineering degree (R)
  • Ability to read technical and project documentation (R)
  • Experience with FMEA methodology (R)
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly process of wire harness components / assemblies (P)
  • Knowledge of vehicle assembly process (P)
  • Experience with direct customer interface (P)
  • Analytical thinking skills (R)
  • Confidence in communication and relation with co-workers (R)
  • Ability to provide strong reasoning and evidence to support viewpoint (R)
