Must have:

Director Engineering - Automotive Software Safety Certification

What You’ll Do

Systems is seeking an experienced Director of Engineering for a position researching, prototyping, developing, deploying, and maintaining future generations of automotive software safety certification processes and tools.

These tools & processes will form a critical offering to speed the development of cloud and embedded connected intelligent systems. The overall solution will cover avionics systems, autonomous cars, warehouse robots, medical devices, and rail.

The successful candidate will report to the VP of Realtime Systems and will lead and build a highly skilled development team delivering the internal and external tools, at a cloud-scale, and process across the complete lifecycle of certified products.

A blend of technical skills and softer skills like business acumen, decision-making, and communication skills will be key to this position.

In the past you’ve:

  • Led teams implementing processes and tools for safety-certified systems
  • Succeeded in launching software-centric systems certified to IEC61508, or ISO26262.
  • Worked extensively using cloud solutions to create embedded systems
  • Conceived, devised, created, implemented, and operated development and operations systems
  • Integrated class-leading FOSS tools, as well as proprietary software products
  • Taken a developer experience approach to accelerate the development cycle

Responsibilities:

  • Lead an emerging team for future certified products, such as hypervisors, RTOS, and associated development tools
  • Work cross-functionally, and with partners to define the agile processes for future certification.
  • Work cross-functionally, and with partners to define the cloud-scale accredited tools for future certification.
  • Collaborate with Product, Marketing, Sales, Customers, and Partners to achieve disruptive results.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Leader and manager in a software engineering functional for functional safe software systems
  • Expert leader in A&D, Automotive or Industrial for certification tools and processes
  • Experience leading organizations operating with agile scrum, and with continuous integration
  • Experience with cloud tools, on cloud platforms; like AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, and Docker
  • Expert in requirements management, certification processes, automated tested, and evidence generation
  • Experience with certified embedded hypervisors, RTOS, and application development
  • Experience in connected or autonomous systems development is a bonus
  • Agile mindset and comfortable with ambiguity.
  • 5+ years of experience of software safety certifications
  • 10+ years working in the software development arena
  • BSc / MSc degree (Computer Science, Computer/Electronic Engineering, or equivalent technical degree).
