Job Description

As DevSecOps Manager, you will lead the Wind River Cloud DevSecOps team, overseeing all aspects of DevOps and SecOps. This role involves shaping the WRCP Linux solution, making strategic decisions across the software development lifecycle, and ensuring high-quality product delivery. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Debian/Linux systems, package management, and open-source contribution, working with technologies like Kubernetes, Docker, and OpenStack. You will manage a team of Cloud engineers, foster an open community, and contribute to impactful products.

  • Demonstrate development engineering management skills in planning and leading multiple engineering projects using Agile/Scrum.

  • Hold a Bachelor’s / master's degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Have 10+ years of relevant software development experience.
  • Possess 7+ years of software development management experience in a fast-paced engineering environment.

About the Team

Within the Wind River Cloud team, we work with large-scale projects like Kubernetes, Docker, OpenStack and fast-paced Open-Source technologies that are in high demand from our customers. Wind River Cloud has adopted these technologies into the core of our product, which is driving us to find experienced and high-performing individuals that can learn and contribute to these full software stack solutions to fulfill the strict requirements of edge computing use cases from security to high availability. The team delivers builds, build infrastructure and security across our product line.

The right candidate will possess proven software engineering skills. You are expected to be versatile and able to thrive in a dynamic environment developing critical OS and applicaiton features. You are comfortable managing competing priorities and can bring order to ambiguous scenarios. Maturity, impeccable judgment, and the ability to influence and lead are essential to success in this role.

Job Summary:

As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the direction of the WRCP Linux solution and delivering a product that meets the needs of our users. As a seasoned manager you will be running our Wind River Cloud DevSecOps team responsible for all aspects of DevOps and SecOps; make strategic decisions and participate in all the stages of the software development lifecycle to ensure delivery of a high-quality product. You will have the opportunity to work with a collaborative and innovative team of engineers who are passionate about Linux and open-source software. Responsibilities

  • Managing a team of Cloud engineers contributing to ongoing releases of Wind River Cloud Platform including career planning, goal setting, performance assessment, coaching, performance improvement, compensation, conflict resolution, and other people management tasks.
  • Develop in an open community, build products based on open-source technologies, and contribute to open-source projects such as Kubernetes, OpenStack and StarlingX.
  • Sprint planning and coordination across scrum teams.
  • Working with a team of other development and program managers to coordinate work and assure delivery of projects and products.
  • Process development and implementation for the direct team and department.
  • Contributing to budget allocation and monitoring.
  • Interfacing to various other parts of the company such as Test, Engineering Operations, and Product Management

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s / master's degree in computer science or related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant software development experience.
  • 7+ years software development management as part of a larger team with interdependent responsibilities in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with infrastructure software development, Linux development and related products or operating systems
  • Track record of building and delivering mission-critical, 24x7 production software systems.
  • Contribution to the open-source community.
