Position Summary
Extreme Networks is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Product Marketing (Hardware) to lead the go-to-market strategy, positioning, and storytelling for our industry-leading wired, wireless, fabric, and SD-WAN portfolio. This role will shape how Extreme articulates the value and differentiation of our hardware innovations—delivering the performance, reliability, and security enterprises need to power digital transformation at the network edge and core.
You will be responsible for defining competitive narratives, influencing product strategy, and enabling global sales success across Extreme’s hardware offerings. As part of the Product Marketing leadership team, you will collaborate closely with Product Management, Sales, Corporate Marketing, and Revenue Enablement to ensure consistent, compelling, and competitive positioning across all customer touchpoints.
Key Responsibilities
Hardware Portfolio Strategy & Positioning
- Lead the product marketing strategy for Extreme’s hardware portfolio, including switching, wireless access points, fabric networking, and SD-WAN.
- Develop portfolio-level value propositions and market segmentation strategies aligned with Extreme’s enterprise networking vision.
- Define category differentiation around performance, resiliency, scalability, energy efficiency, and integration with Extreme Platform ONE and AI-powered, cloud-based, network management.
- Partner with Product Management (for hardware) to influence roadmap priorities based on market insights, customer needs, and competitive trends.
Messaging, Storytelling & Content Development
- Craft compelling messaging and positioning that highlight how Extreme’s hardware solutions deliver end-to-end simplicity, automation, and security.
- Create high-impact marketing assets—solution briefs, whitepapers, datasheets, presentations, customer case studies, and web content—that articulate tangible business outcomes.
- Develop integrated narratives that connect hardware differentiation with software and AI capabilities (e.g., Extreme Platform ONE, AI Expert, AI Canvas, and AI Agents).
Go-to-Market Leadership & Launch Execution
- Lead GTM planning for major product introductions and lifecycle refreshes across wired, wireless, fabric, and SD-WAN product portfolios.
- Collaborate with Field Marketing and Demand Generation to design launch campaigns, events, and digital activations that accelerate awareness and pipeline growth.
- Ensure consistent messaging across sales, partner, and analyst-facing channels to reinforce Extreme’s leadership in enterprise networking.
Sales & Partner Enablement
- Build and maintain sales enablement materials, including battlecards, competitive playbooks, ROI/TCO frameworks, and customer reference outcomes.
- Train sales and systems engineering teams on key value propositions, competitive differentiation, and objection handling.
- Collaborate with partner marketing teams to extend hardware positioning into channel, OEM, and technology alliance ecosystems.
Market, Customer & Analyst Engagement
- Conduct ongoing competitive analysis across networking vendors to identify market shifts and whitespace opportunities.
- Engage directly with customers, partners, and industry analysts to validate positioning and gather market feedback.
- Represent Extreme at industry events, customer advisory boards, and executive briefings to promote thought leadership in enterprise networking.
Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in Product Marketing, Solutions Marketing, or GTM leadership roles within enterprise networking hardware, switching, wireless, or SD-WAN industries.
- Proven track record of driving go-to-market success for complex hardware portfolios, with measurable business outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product management, and global sales organizations.
Industry Knowledge:
- Deep understanding of network infrastructure architectures—spanning campus, branch, and data center environments.
- Familiarity with Ethernet switching (ex. Data Center, Edge, Service Provider, etc.), Wi-Fi 6/6E/7, fabric networking, SD-WAN, and edge connectivity solutions.
- Strong grasp of hardware differentiation areas such as throughput, latency, PoE efficiency, environmental design, and lifecycle management.
- Understanding of how hardware integrates with cloud-based network management and AI-driven analytics.
Strategic & Analytical Thinking:
- Skilled at translating product innovation into customer-centric messaging focused on ROI, performance, and total cost of ownership.
- Experienced in competitive analysis and segmentation to uncover growth opportunities across verticals and use cases.
Communication & Leadership:
- Exceptional communicator and storyteller with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
- Adept at simplifying complex technologies into clear, outcome-driven narratives for diverse audiences.
- Proven leadership skills, including mentoring product marketers and driving cross-functional collaboration.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or Engineering required; MBA preferred.
