Job Description

As the Director of Portfolio Planning, you will lead the project delivery methodology, aligning initiatives with Autodesk’s strategic goals and Go-to-Market (GTM) team success. This pivotal role involves establishing standardized processes, orchestrating prioritization, forecasting resource needs, and shaping demand to maximize impact and revenue. You will ensure consistency and predictability in planning, execution, and delivery, proactively managing resources and aligning all projects with business strategy to drive growth and success within the Technology Delivery team.
Must have:
  • Establish and maintain consistent delivery methodology across all projects.
  • Orchestrate portfolio-wide prioritization and resolve conflicts.
  • Proactively forecast future resource needs for talent development.
  • Deeply understand Autodesk's business strategy, market position, and GTM goals.
  • Actively shape demand for high-impact investments towards GTM success and revenue.
  • 10+ years of total relevant experience in capacity planning and portfolio management.
  • 4+ years in progressive leadership roles within a technology-driven organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive strategic initiatives and translate business objectives.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies and software development lifecycles.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and influencing skills with senior leadership.
  • Analytical mindset for data interpretation and informed decision-making.
  • Experience in complex, fast-paced environments with focus on GTM strategies and revenue generation.

Position Overview

As the Director of Portfolio Planning, you will be the driving force behind our project delivery methodology, ensuring our initiatives align with Autodesk’s strategic goals and our Go-to-Market (GTM) team’s success. Your leadership, governance, and strategic foresight will be pivotal as you establish standardized processes, orchestrate prioritization, forecast resource needs, and shape demand to maximize impact and revenue.

We are currently looking for a dedicated and forward-thinking Director of Portfolio Planning to join our Technology Delivery team in the Growth Experience Technology (GET) organization within the COO. This is an exciting opportunity to play a crucial role in shaping the future of our company’s growth and success.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Standardization: Establish and maintain a consistent delivery methodology across all projects, ensuring standardized processes for planning, execution, and delivery, to bring consistency and predictability
  • Prioritize Initiatives: Orchestrate portfolio-wide prioritization, resolving conflicts between competing demands, and ensuring our most critical initiatives receive the resources they need
  • Strategically Forecast: Proactively forecast future resource needs, allowing us to strategically hire, train, and develop our talent, ensuring we always have the right people with the right skills to meet evolving demands
  • Align with Business Strategy: Deeply understand Autodesk's overarching business strategy, market position, and GTM goals, ensuring alignment in all projects and investments
  • Shape Demand: Actively shape demand, ensuring every project undertaken is a deliberate, high-impact investment towards Autodesk's GTM success and, by extension, its revenue

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of total relevant experience with 4+ years in progressive leadership roles within capacity planning and portfolio management within a technology-driven organization, including a strong track record of successfully implementing and optimizing these processes
  • Demonstrated ability to drive strategic initiatives and translate business objectives into actionable plans
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies and software development lifecycles
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and influencing skills with the ability to engage and gain consensus from senior leadership
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions regarding resource allocation and prioritization
  • Experience working in a complex, fast-paced environment with a strong focus on Go-to-Market (GTM) strategies and revenue generation

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $182,200 and $294,800. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, our compensation package may include annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
