Job Summary
Ceragon Networks is seeking a DWDM Engineer (Semi Senior) in Asunción, Paraguay, to support the design, operation, implementation, and maintenance of their optical transport network. The role involves expanding and optimizing DWDM infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance. Key responsibilities include configuring and commissioning DWDM links, performing performance analysis, troubleshooting failures, and operating management tools. The engineer will also document network changes, coordinate with various technical teams, and contribute to network modernization projects, requiring practical experience with optical equipment and strong analytical skills.
Must Have
- Support design, operation, implementation, and maintenance of optical transport network.
- Execute configuration and commissioning of DWDM links.
- Perform performance analysis, optical measurements, and troubleshooting of DWDM network failures.
- Operate NMS/EMS tools for monitoring and alarm analysis.
- Interpret optical reports (power, OSNR, dispersion, OTDR traces, BER tests).
- Document network topologies, inventory, changes, and configurations.
- Coordinate with NOC, IP, Transport teams, and field crews.
- Provide technical support during scheduled maintenance.
- Contribute to optical network expansion and modernization projects.
- Solid knowledge in DWDM, optical transmission, multiplexing, OSNR, CD/PMD.
- Practical experience with DWDM equipment from at least one vendor.
- Proficiency in optical monitoring and management tools.
- Analytical skills for fault diagnosis and performance validation.
- Knowledge of OTN, Ethernet, and transport concepts.
- Tertiary or university degree in Electronic Engineering or Telecommunications.
- 2-4 years direct experience in DWDM or optical transport networks.
- Experience in commissioning, validations, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of good operating and security practices in telecom networks.
- Availability for technical on-call duties or night work.
- Intermediate/advanced English.

The DWDM Engineer (Semi Senior) will be responsible for supporting the design, operation, implementation, and maintenance of the optical transport network. They will work on the expansion and optimization of the DWDM infrastructure, ensuring high levels of availability and performance. The position requires practical experience with optical equipment, analytical capacity to resolve failures, and coordination skills with technical areas and providers. This role combines technical work, documentation, and active participation in network modernization projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Service Delivery
- Execute configuration and commissioning tasks for DWDM links following defined standards and guidelines from senior architects.
- Perform performance analysis, optical measurements, and troubleshooting activities for failures in the DWDM network.
- Participate in capacity expansions, activation of new lambdas, and equipment upgrades under minimal supervision.
- Operate management tools (NMS/EMS) for monitoring, early problem detection, and alarm analysis.
- Interpret power reports, OSNR, dispersion, OTDR traces, and optical test results.
- Document topologies, inventory, changes made, test results, and configurations.
- Coordinate with NOC, IP, Transport teams, and field crews for work execution and incident resolution.
- Provide technical support during scheduled maintenance and medium/high impact events. This may be during night windows.
- Contribute to optical network expansion, modernization, and migration projects.
Job Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Solid knowledge in optical transmission: DWDM, multiplexing, OSNR, CD/PMD, optical powers.
- Practical experience with DWDM equipment from at least one vendor.
- Proficiency in optical monitoring and management tools.
- Analytical skills for fault diagnosis and performance validation.
- Reading and interpretation of OTDR traces, optical spectra, and BER tests.
- General knowledge of OTN, Ethernet, and transport concepts.
- Communication skills to interact with different teams and providers.
- Organizational skills, task tracking, and semi-autonomous work.
- Problem-solving with an analytical approach and results orientation.
Job Requirements
- Tertiary or university studies in Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, or related fields.
- 2 to 4 years of direct experience in DWDM or optical transport networks.
- Experience performing commissioning, validations, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of good operating and security practices in telecom networks.
- Availability to participate in technical on-call duties or scheduled night work.
- Intermediate/advanced English.
