What does the Home & Life Embedded Applications Engineering team do?
Silicon Labs applications engineers are utilizing their domain specific expertise to provide engineering technical collateral like documentation, code examples, and customer technical support related to our IoT products, including multi-protocol wireless SoC’s, and ARM Cortex-based MCU’s. Silicon Labs wireless portfolio includes many different transceivers and wireless MCUs for applications like Bluetooth, Zigbee/Thread, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, and proprietary wireless radios. Our devices simplify design effort and accelerate time to market for a wide range of communications applications.
The Embedded Applications Engineering team at Silicon Labs is a critical link between our products and the end customer’s success, and its primary function is to support our customers’ rapid prototyping and development of their systems using our products. We are application and product experts who provide our customers with technical guidance and contribute to the knowledge base and technical documentation for the products.

What You Will Do
In this role you will be working with world leading IoT customers integrating Silicon Labs products into their next-generation wireless products shaping the world of tomorrow. Primary activities include providing advanced technical support to customers, creating technical collateral and documentation and working with internal teams on improving software quality and developer experience via early feedback from the customer perspective. A wide range of technical activities is involved in this role:
Providing technical support on complex MCU and peripheral related issues, which involves analyzing the system (architecture, code, execution), reproducing issues, and narrowing down to system parameters or embedded software component via gathering further evidence and designing additional tests (debugging).
Developing proof of concept designs and example code to showcase the competitive advantage of our products in different application fields. Developing tools to optimize and streamline repetitive tasks.
Creating and reviewing technical collaterals, including knowledge base articles, quick start guides, application notes, and code examples.
Collaborate with IC design, software engineering and marketing teams on product evaluations and new product definition
Education and Skills for Success:
BSc or MSc degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
Strong embedded C programming skills: Ability to troubleshoot and debug code, devices, and systems
Understanding of embedded system concepts (e.g. memory management, interrupt handling, build process), as well as sub-systems and peripherals (e.g. energy and clock management, timers, ADC, DAC, SPI, I2C, UART)
Experience with using instruments for debugging (e.g. multimeter, oscilloscope, logic analyzer)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Bonus Skills and Experience
Experience with embedded or real-time operating systems (e.g. FreeRTOS, Zephyr, Micrium)
Experience with bootloaders
Experience with hardware design, prototyping
Experience with customer-facing technical interactions and working in distributed teams
