EvenUp is seeking an Engineering Manager for AI Document Generation to lead a team developing advanced AI workflows and document generation solutions. The role involves balancing strategic vision with hands-on leadership, collaborating with founders and product teams to maintain quality and innovation. The engineering manager will set strategic vision, lead teams through the software lifecycle, establish best practices, recruit and mentor engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders. Hands-on contributions in LLM integration or AI workflows are also expected.

As Engineering Manager for Document Generation, you'll lead a high-impact team responsible for developing advanced AI workflows and innovative document generation solutions. Balancing strategic vision and hands-on leadership, you will collaborate closely with founders, product teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure EvenUp maintains its reputation for exceptional quality and innovation.

The systems and products you build will not only accelerate company growth but also redefine industry standards, creating measurable and meaningful impact in the lives of injury victims nationwide.

This is a hybrid role: we collaborate in-person at least three days per week (Tuesday–Thursday) at our San Francisco or Toronto offices for team planning, mentorship, and critical collaboration.

What You'll Do:

  • Set and communicate a clear strategic vision for your team, aligning technical initiatives with EvenUp’s broader goals.

  • Lead teams through the full software lifecycle, from planning and architecture to implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring.

  • Establish and champion engineering best practices around coding standards, automated testing, security, observability, and reliability.

  • Recruit, mentor, and develop engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, continuous learning, and inclusivity.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with founders, product management, legal, and operations stakeholders to deliver exceptional, customer-centric products.

  • Contribute hands-on as necessary, especially in areas related to LLM integration or optimizing AI-native workflows.

What We Look For:

  • At least 4 years of direct people-management experience leading software engineering teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to ship complex, high-quality software products and systems.

  • Strong leadership skills, with proven experience in mentorship, career development, and fostering inclusive team environments.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to influence effectively across cross-functional teams.

  • Expertise in scalable system architecture, software development lifecycle management, and software engineering best practices.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience or strong interest in AI/ML or legal technology domains.

  • Background in high-growth startups or dynamic, innovation-focused environments.
