Engineering Manager for Web Platforms is a first-line people manager responsible for leading a team of full-stack software engineers who build and maintain scalable, secure, and performant web applications. The team supports over 700 global websites and is actively modernizing the stack, including a transition from AEM to Contentful and increased use of cloud-native architecture and automation.
This role centers on software engineering leadership: enabling delivery, reducing complexity, and driving technical excellence through coaching, architectural guidance, and effective execution. The manager ensures that content management systems and cloud infrastructure serve as enablers for rapid, high-quality feature development. Success in this role comes from building a healthy engineering culture, applying modern development practices (CI/CD, automated testing, infrastructure as code), and aligning platform evolution with security, privacy, and business needs.
Technical
Consistently leads the team to strong outcomes from a technical perspective, ensuring that engineering decisions account for technical debt, system design, platform reliability, observability, and business needs.
Is recognized for enabling high-impact technical contributions within the team and maintaining high standards of engineering quality and operational excellence.
Guides and supports the team in adapting technical scope to respond to changing business priorities, incidents, or strategic shifts.
Leads refactoring and modernization initiatives when appropriate, helping the team balance long-term maintainability with short-term delivery goals.
Effectively supports the team during production incidents, ensuring swift coordination, root cause analysis, and knowledge sharing to prevent recurrences.
Guides engineers through the design process for complex problems, encouraging collaborative solutioning aligned with platform architecture and strategic direction.
Encourages participation in engineering forums, retrospectives, and improvement initiatives that strengthen technical practices and shared ownership.
Maintains up-to-date and practical knowledge of Security, Risk & Compliance, supporting secure development practices, incident readiness, and vulnerability remediation in collaboration with security and DevOps teams.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Successfully lead and consistently deliver on projects, ensuring appropriate engineering decisions are made to factor in technical debt, systems design, stability/reliability, monitoring/observability, and business need. Proactively embed security, risk, and compliance thinking into delivery processes, ensuring vulnerability management, policy alignment, and audit readiness are a regular part of team operations.
Lead the refactoring and modernization of complex systems or services when justified, making pragmatic trade-offs between long-term quality and technical debt repayment.
Work competently under pressure to resolve complex or critical issues (e.g., debugging high-impact production incidents or coordinating urgent fixes).
Demonstrate strong architectural thinking beyond code and guide the team through design discussions and decisions for complex challenges.
Enable effective team execution by shaping priorities, removing blockers, and aligning work with strategic objectives and OKRs.
Interactions/ interpersonal skills: Works closely with product, design, engineering, architecture, and external partners across regions. Communicates clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences. Builds trust through feedback, mentoring, and inclusive leadership. Promotes psychological safety and represents the team in planning and stakeholder forums.
Job Requirements and Qualifications:
Minimum Education: University degree
Preferred Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field – or equivalent practical experience.
Minimum Experience:
Around 5 years of experience in software engineering (or MarTech), with experience in leadership or management role (e.g., Team Lead, Engineering Manager).
Proven experience leading software engineering teams.
Preffered Experience:
Deep domain & Engineering management expertise and experience
Demonstrable leadership.
Experience working with geographically distributed teams or vendor partners.
Exposure in managing web hosting platforms/teams.
Required Licenses/Certifications: Technical certsificstions as required (nice to have).
