As a Team Lead at Betsson Group, you will lead a team of talented engineers, taking responsibility for both team performance and delivery. You will foster a healthy, collaborative team culture while ensuring technical excellence. You will also contribute as a developer, designing and developing next-generation Engagement products for the iGaming industry. Responsibilities include people leadership (mentoring, coaching, recruitment, performance reviews), sprint planning and administration, maintaining high code quality through peer reviews, managing repositories, high-level QA ownership, collaborating with stakeholders like Product Managers and Tech Leads, and occasional development. The role involves building highly scalable, resilient, and efficient applications using cutting-edge technologies within the Marketing Platforms team.
Must have:
  • 5+ years of software development experience
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Experience with sprint planning and agile methodologies
  • Expertise in PHP and MySQL
  • Proactive approach to code quality and reviews

As a Team Lead at Betsson Group, you will lead a team of talented engineers and take overall responsibility for both team performance and delivery. You will drive a healthy, collaborative team culture while ensuring technical excellence. Alongside your leadership duties, you will occasionally contribute as a developer, designing and developing next-generation Engagement products for the iGaming industry.

 

 

 

About the Job:

As part of this team, you will leverage cutting-edge technologies to build highly scalable, resilient, and efficient applications. As Team Lead, you will also be responsible for getting these applications into the hands of our users safely, quickly, and sustainably. Within Marketing Platforms, we work closely with marketing and commercial teams to transform their ideas into technical solutions, all built and delivered by us using best-of-breed technologies, practices, and processes.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • People leadership: Mentoring, coaching, and managing developers, including recruitment, onboarding, performance reviews, personal development planning, and regular 1-to-1s.
  • Sprint planning & administration: Leading sprint planning sessions, managing backlogs, and ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
  • Code quality & reviews: Maintaining high standards for code quality through peer reviews, continuous improvement, and best practices.
  • Maintaining repositories: Overseeing and maintaining code repositories to ensure clean, stable, and well-documented versions.
  • High-level QA Ownership: Define and enforce testing strategies, quality standards, and automated testing approaches to ensure product reliability.
  • Close collaboration with stakeholders: Working closely with Product Managers, Tech Leads, and other stakeholders to translate business needs into actionable technical solutions.
  • Occasional development: Writing code when necessary, following modern development principles and best practices.
  • Architecture & technical decision-making: Participating in design decisions, improving application architecture, and performing solution reviews.

 

What we are looking for:

  • 5+ years of experience in software development.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with sprint planning, backlog management, and agile methodologies.
  • Excellent knowledge and hands-on experience with PHP and MySQL, with strong expertise in writing efficient queries.
  • A proactive approach to code quality, reviews, and repository management.
  • An interest in learning the business domain and aligning technical solutions with business goals.
  • Agile mindset with a focus on delivering value and achieving business objectives.
