Our challenge
We are seeking a skilled ETL/API Developer with a strong foundation in data integration, warehousing, and API development. The ideal candidate will design, build, and optimize data pipelines and RESTful APIs to facilitate seamless data sharing, transformation, and access across various systems and platforms.
Additional Information*
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $100k - $105k/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL workflows and data pipelines using tools such as Informatica, Talend, SSIS, or Apache NiFi.
- Extract data from diverse sources including relational databases, flat files, cloud storage solutions, and APIs.
- Develop and expose secure, well-documented RESTful APIs to enable data sharing, integration, and internal/external system connectivity.
- Create and optimize data transformation workflows, including cleansing, filtering, joining, and aggregating large datasets to meet business requirements.
- Write efficient SQL queries, stored procedures, and performance-tune data extraction processes to ensure optimal performance.
- Work with multiple database platforms such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
- Apply data modeling principles such as star schema, snowflake schema, normalization, and denormalization for effective data architecture.
- Conduct data quality assessments, validation, and profiling to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency during loads.
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Support ongoing improvements to data systems, pipelines, and security standards.
Requirements:
- Proven experience 8+ years, excellent in designing and implementing ETL workflows and data pipelines.
- Proficiency with ETL tools such as Informatica, Talend, SSIS, or Apache NiFi.
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with multiple relational database platforms.
- Hands-on experience developing and deploying RESTful APIs.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, data modeling, and best practices.
- Knowledge of data quality, profiling, and validation techniques.
- Familiarity with cloud data storage and processing (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred, but not required:
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Java.
- Knowledge of big data technologies like Hadoop or Spark.
- Understanding of data governance and security best practices.
- Experience working in Agile development environments.
