Infinity Ward is seeking an Expert Online Engineer to work on multiplayer online games for the Call of Duty franchise. This role involves architecting new networking systems, developing and maintaining online features, ensuring security, and managing infrastructure. The engineer will collaborate with designers and QA, integrate first-party online services, expand cross-title service infrastructure, and optimize network performance. Must Have

  • Architect new networking systems for game client, server, and backend.
  • Develop, design, and maintain existing online features.
  • Work with Multiplayer Designers to fully realize their visions.
  • Work with QA to maintain bug-free code and eliminate network load issues.
  • Maintain and implement integration of first-party online services.
  • Build and expand Activision cross-title service infrastructure.
  • Optimize and debug game network traffic and improve network architecture.
  • Proficiency in C and C++.
  • Strong background and knowledge in client-server architecture.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols including TCP/IP and UDP.
  • Understanding of client-server and peer-to-peer networking models.
  • B.S. in Computer Science and/or Mathematics or equivalent work experience.
  • Familiarity with using and building backend APIs, including REST and databases.

Good to Have

  • Current generation console programming experience with a reputation for creating clean, efficient, and well-tested code.

Your Mission

Infinity Ward is looking for an Expert Online Engineer. The work will encompass all elements of multiplayer online games, including new and unique online features, security, infrastructure design, operations management and defining future technologies. This position is a rare opportunity to join a growing team, shape the next generation of online gaming, and have a hand in a multi-million-unit selling franchise.

This role is for experienced programmers that have a passion for games and experience with online infrastructure design and development.

Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

  • Architect new networking systems for the game client, game server, and backend.
  • Bring new ideas and fresh techniques to the table.
  • Develop, design and maintain existing online features.
  • Work with Multiplayer Designers to fully realize their visions.
  • Work with QA to maintain bug free code and detect and eliminate network load issues.
  • Maintain and implement integration of first party online services
  • Build and expand Activision cross-title service infrastructure
  • Optimize and debug game network traffic and improve on existing network architecture

Player Profile

Minimum Requirements:

  • Proficiency in C and C++
  • Strong background and knowledge in client-server architecture
  • Knowledge of networking protocols including TCP/IP and UDP and their applications in game systems design
  • Understanding of the implementation requirements of client-server and peer-to-peer networking models
  • B.S. in Computer Science and/or Mathematics or equivalent work experience
  • Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Good oral and written skills
  • Interest in games, preferably first-person shooters
  • Familiarity with using and building backend APIs – including REST and interfacing with databases

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $121,500.00 - $224,880.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role’s range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed. While we strive to provide competitive offers to successful candidates, new hire compensation is negotiable.
