Job Description

As a Facilities Engineer, you will be a key member of the maintenance team, responsible for the correct maintenance, advice, and execution related to critical machines at the Wabtec manufacturing plant in Apodaca, Mexico. You will lead maintenance technicians, manage projects focused on critical thinking, results, savings, and continuous improvement. Daily tasks include addressing equipment failures, leading problem-solving, tracking corrective actions, and managing maintenance operations within the MAXIMO system, ensuring operational efficiency and safety.
Must have:

  • Lead maintenance technicians.
  • Lead projects requiring critical thinking, results focus, savings, continuous improvement, and budgets.
  • Provide daily attention to equipment failures in assigned area.
  • Lead, track, analyze, and solve equipment failures.
  • Track and close corrective actions to prevent equipment failures.
  • Participate in investigations and actions to reduce machine defects.
  • Close daily generated orders for assigned equipment in the MAXIMO system.
  • Prepare daily operations report based on MAXIMO.
  • Generate and update metric graphs for the area.
  • Control the assigned budget for the area.
  • Develop Risk and Cycle Time Reduction projects.
  • Comply with the MP plan at 80%.
  • Attend daily production Gemba.
  • Assume personal responsibility for safety and report EHS events.
  • Ensure knowledge, tools, and processes for safe task execution.
  • Follow all Wabtec procedures and standards for safety and environment.
  • Participate in the site EHS program and contribute to WMS-EHS improvement.

Who will you work with?

Our maintenance team serves the Wabtec manufacturing plant, where we make traction motors for trains, among other products. Therefore, you will be in contact with all teams from different departments such as production, manufacturing, quality, finance, and safety.

How will you make a difference?

As a member of the maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the correct maintenance, advice, and execution of everything related to critical machines.

  • Reports directly to the maintenance manager.
  • Is in charge of maintenance technicians.
  • Can lead various projects that require critical thinking, results focus, savings projects, continuous improvement, budgets, among others.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Electro-Mechanical Engineer, Industrial Engineer, Mechatronics Engineer or similar.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in related areas.
  • Knowledge of CNC equipment, welders, press ovens, hoists, etc.
  • Preparation of CAM and CAD programs.
  • Knowledge of Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Electronics, Electricity, Power, substations.
  • Experience in Maintenance Management (TPM, Corrective, Preventive and Predictive Maintenance, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic Maintenance).
  • Knowledge of computer packages such as Office.
  • English 85% (desirable).
  • Knowledge of open and closed loop servomechanisms.
  • Reading and Interpretation of Mechanical, Electrical, Pneumatic and Hydraulic Drawings.

What will your typical day be like?

  • Daily attention to equipment failures in your assigned area.
  • Leadership, follow-up, analysis, and solution of equipment failures.
  • Leading technical personnel in resolving equipment failures.
  • Tracking and closing corrective actions to prevent equipment failures.
  • Participation in investigations and actions to implement for the reduction of defects per machine.
  • Closing daily generated orders for the equipment under your charge, in the MAXIMO system.
  • Preparation of daily operations report based on MAXIMO.
  • Generation and Update of metric graphs in your area of responsibility.
  • Control of the budget assigned for your area of responsibility.
  • Development of Risk and Cycle Time Reduction projects.
  • Compliance with the MP plan at 80%.
  • Daily Gemba attendance for production.
  • Assume personal responsibility for your own safety and that of others as a condition of employment.
  • Immediately report EHS events, concerns, and non-compliances to site management and, when possible, proactively correct workplace conditions and behaviors that may harm people or the environment.
  • Ensure you have the necessary knowledge, tools, and processes to perform assigned tasks safely.
  • Follow all Wabtec procedures and standards that protect the safety and health of people and the environment.
  • Participate in the site EHS program and contribute to the continuous improvement of Wabtec's WMS-EHS.

What about the physical demands of the job?

The base of the position is at the Apodaca N.L. plant, a metal-mechanical company.

Refers to dealing with operational and technical personnel and working on the machines of the production lines in the plant.
