The Field Service Technician role is remote, servicing public safety customers in the Kansas City area.
Must have:
  • Provide technical support for specialized systems and product applications.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of software-driven electronics.
  • Provision communication system infrastructure.
  • Optimize performance of RF and Broadband architecture, including P25 and data infrastructure.
  • Maintain, optimize, test, and document complex communications systems.
  • Provide weekly activity and accomplishment reports.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of wired communication systems (LAN/WAN).
  • Proficient in computer network installation, configuration, and maintenance (cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, bridges).
  • Perform maintenance of server hardware/OS and software infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system/application related issues.
  • Experience with logging recording systems, RF interfaces, wired/wireless communications, and/or networking equipment.
  • Required experience with multi-site RF communication systems and/or computer/networking skills.
  • Minimum 4 years experience with Motorola Base Stations, Centracom Consoles, Channel Banks, T1 Circuits, Computer IP Networks.
  • Proficiency with various communication test equipment.
  • Knowledge of Motorola Conventional, SmartNet, MCC Console, Secure Operations, ASTRO A7.x Digital systems.
  • Network certification (Network+, CCNA, NRS1, or related).
  • Experience with P25, LMR, Smartnet, SmartZone, RF infrastructure, ASTRO systems, radios, or consoles.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products and Motorola Radio Programming Software.
  • Excellent communication skills and professional image required.
  • Must have a current, valid driver’s license with no traffic violations.
  • Associate's Degree in Electronics or IT or 3+ years Field Experience as a System Technician.
  • Minimum 3+ years experience in LMR, RF Systems, Radio Communications, etc.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required.
Good to have:
  • Experience working with RF Infrastructure Technologies including Motorola SmartZone, Smartnet, Console Systems, ASTRO Conventional and Trunked equipment is strongly preferred.

Job Description

The Field Service Technician role is remote, however the public safety customers serviced are located in the Kansas City area and the successful candidate must reside in the Kansas City area or be willing to relocate to the area.

  • Provide technical support of specialized systems and product applications including advanced troubleshooting of software driven electronics, provisioning of communication system infrastructure and performance optimization of RF and Broadband architecture including, but not limited to, legacy analog, advanced digital P25 and data infrastructure.
  • Maintain, optimize, test and document complex communications systems.
  • Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments.
  • Deliver strong knowledge of wired communications systems, such as local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN), must be proficient in computer network installation, configuration and maintenance systems to include cabling, routers, switches, firewalls and bridges.
  • Perform maintenance of server hardware/OS and software infrastructure and troubleshooting to resolve system/application related issues.
  • Deliver experience with logging recording systems, RF interfaces, wired/wireless communications systems and/or networking equipment
  • Provide a unique combinations of both multi-site RF communications system and/or computer/networking skills are required.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Demonstrate systems experience and have a minimum of 4 years of related experience with the following equipment: Motorola Base Stations (GTR series, etc.), Centracom Consoles (MCC7500, MCC7100, AXS, etc.), Channel Banks and T1 Circuits, Computer IP Networks and Configuration
  • Experience working with RF Infrastructure Technologies to include: Motorola SmartZone, Smartnet, Console Systems, ASTRO Conventional and Trunked equipment is strongly preferred
  • Various communications test equipment skills including: Communication System Analyzers, Ethernet Link test sets, T1 Test Sets, TIMS (Transmission Impairment Measurement Set), Digital RF Power Meter
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following: Motorola Conventional, SmartNet, and MCC Console systems, Secure Operations and ASTRO A7.x Digital systems and installation procedures.
  • Network certification: Network+, CCNA, NRS1, Related certification
  • Must have experience with one of the following: P25, LMR, Smartnet, SmartZone, RF infrastructure, ASTRO systems, radios or consoles.
  • Applicant must be proficient with Microsoft Office products and Motorola Radio Programming Software suite.
  • Must have excellent communications skills and always present a professional image.
  • Must have a current, valid driver’s license and no traffic violations.
  • Associate's Degree in Electronics or IT or 3+ years Field Experience as a System Technician.
