The Finance Operations Analyst will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of cloud cost management processes and tools. This includes developing dashboards and APIs, performing data analysis, and collaborating with engineering and operations teams to improve visibility and reduce unnecessary spending. The ideal candidate is a data-driven professional with strong technical skills and a passion for FinOps best practices. Key responsibilities include cloud spend monitoring and analysis, data engineering and integration, forecasting and modeling, governance and cost allocation, and FinOps advocacy.

Job Summary 
The Finance Operations Analyst will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of cloud cost management processes and tools. This includes developing dashboards and APIs, performing data analysis, and collaborating with engineering and operations teams to improve visibility and reduce unnecessary spending. The ideal candidate is a data-driven professional with strong technical skills and a passion for FinOps best practices.
 
Key Responsibilities 
  • Cloud Spend Monitoring & Analysis 
    • Track and analyze GCP usage trends, identify cost anomalies, and reconcile expenses with forecasts.
    • Design and develop advanced Looker dashboards to provide real-time cloud cost transparency across departments and projects.
    • Perform in-depth cloud consumption analysis and provide actionable insights on cost-saving opportunities.
  • Data Engineering & Integration 
    • Design and develop APIs to ingest and harmonize cloud consumption data from multiple sources (e.g., GCP billing exports, internal systems, third-party tools).
    • Write complex SQL queries to extract and analyze billing data from GCP BigQuery datasets.
  • Forecasting & Modeling 
    • Utilize advanced Excel skills and data visualization tools to model cloud usage and build cost forecasts.
    • Partner with Finance to develop and maintain monthly and quarterly cloud spend forecasts.
  • Governance & Cost Allocation 
    • Work closely with engineering and operations to implement robust tagging and cost allocation strategiesfor better visibility and accountability.
    • Provide expertise on GCP cost management tools, including Cost Management reports, Budgets, Pricing Calculator, and committed use discounts (CUDs).
  • FinOps Advocacy & Best Practices 
    • Act as a FinOps advocate, promoting cloud financial accountability and cost optimization across the organization.
    • Stay abreast of the latest cloud financial management trends, tools, and frameworks to drive continuous improvement.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in cloud financial operations, FinOps, FP&A, or data analytics, preferably in a SaaS or cloud-native environment.
  • Proficient in SQL, Excel, and data visualization tools such as Looker, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Experience developing dashboards and APIs to support financial transparency and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of GCP billing architecture, pricing models, and forecasting.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to bridge finance and technical teams.

The annual starting salary for this position is between $86,000- $100,000 annually, depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
