We are looking for a FinOps Specialist to join our Technology department. This role will focus on managing Cloud cost optimization (AWS mainly, GCP, internal cloud), financial governance, and reporting, ensuring that cloud resources are used efficiently and cost-effectively. The FinOps Specialist will collaborate with the account owners, the cloud team, and the finance team to balance performance, cost, and business priorities.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Cloud Accounts management: create and categorize new cloud accounts in alignment with product lines and organizational standards. Ensure that the new accounts are properly allocated into categories/product lines and streamline the onboarding process (e.g., improve Jira request forms).
- Monitoring & Anomaly Detection: monitor daily usage vs. budget to detect anomalies in spend and volume. Alert account owners and infrastructure team when budgets are close to limits or unusual spikes occur.
- Cost Optimization:
- Review Cloud reports periodically and share rightsizing opportunities with teams (e.g. AWS Trusted Advisor, savings plans, reservations, etc.).
- Propose, renew and manage Savings Plans and Reserved Instances.
- Reporting & Communication:
- Maintain central documentation with Savings Plan and Reservation commitments, including renewal information.
- Conduct Cost Allocation analysis, verify automation results against cloud billing, and drive automation improvements.
- Deliver bi-weekly cost optimization reports highlighting unused or underutilized resources, and work with teams to decommission them.
- Ability to work in close collaboration with other team members to produce Cost Reporting on time.
- Share regular updates and recommendations on all our automated Cost Reports from our different cloud providers (including Marketplace charges).
- Facilitate discussions with account/product owners, cloud team, and leadership for major commitments requiring strategic planning.
