Ookla is a global leader in connectivity intelligence. This role involves developing and maintaining robust, scalable web applications using React, Redux, Webpack, and Vite. The candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new features for data visualization platforms and portals. Responsibilities include writing clean, maintainable code, adhering to best practices, conducting code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting. The role also involves developing and testing RESTful APIs for data processing and handling, participating in agile methodologies, and staying updated with emerging web development trends. The goal is to use Ookla data and insights to advance the mission of better connectivity for all.
Must have:
- Develop and maintain web applications with React, Redux, Webpack, Vite
- Collaborate on new features for data visualization platforms
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code
- Conduct code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting
- Develop and test RESTful APIs
- Participate in agile development
- Stay updated with web development trends
- 2+ years of full-stack web development experience
- Experience with AWS or similar cloud environments
- Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs (Go, Python, Node.js, Ruby)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Good to have:
- Experience with mapping libraries (MapboxGL, Leaflet.js, OpenLayers)
- Familiarity with Typescript
- Basic understanding of monorepos
- Familiarity with relational databases and SQL

Expectations for Success
- Develop and maintain robust and scalable web applications using React, Redux, Webpack and Vite
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop and implement new features and functionalities for our data visualization platforms and portals
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code and adhere to best practices in software development
- Conduct code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure the quality of the codebase
- Help develop, maintain and test RESTful APIs for data processing and handling
- Participate in agile development methodologies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in full-stack web development and apply them to our stack
Requirements
- 2+ years of professional or intern experience in full-stack web development
- Proficient in React, Redux, Webpack and Vite with hands-on experience building complex web applications
- Experience using AWS or similar cloud computing environments to build and scale a web application
- Experience in designing and developing RESTful APIs using Go, Python, Node.js or Ruby
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies and continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Nice to have
- Experience with various mapping libraries like MapboxGL, Leaflet.js, or OpenLayers
- Familiarity with Typescript
- Basic understanding of monorepos and the infrastructure required to support them
- Familiarity with storing data in relational databases and writing SQL
