Job Description

As a key member of the Services team at Ookla, you will be responsible for the health, scalability, and performance of our production and testing environments. You'll use your expertise in systems, automation, and cloud platforms to troubleshoot issues, implement improvements, and collaborate with various teams to support our mission of improving global connectivity. Key responsibilities include designing and maintaining scalable systems, troubleshooting infrastructure, developing automation, managing monitoring, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and participating in on-call support.
Must Have:
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable systems for production and test environments.
  • Identify and resolve complex infrastructure and application issues.
  • Develop and deploy automation and tooling to enhance system efficiency.
  • Manage and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting systems.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams for seamless application deployment.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for critical systems.
  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of operational policies and procedures.
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in Operations Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or a similar role.
  • Solid understanding of Linux systems administration and networking.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language, such as Python, Ruby, or Go.
  • Proven experience with cloud computing platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse teams.

Compensation Range

Ziff Davis provides a range for the base pay. Factors that may be used to determine your actual pay may include your specific job related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. The salary compensation for this role is $60,000 - $75,000 USD/year. Individual pay within the compensation range for this business unit specific role is determined based on a variety of factors including experience, scope of the role, capabilities to perform the role, education and training, as well as business and company performance.
