Job Description

The Global Quality Management System Leader is responsible for maintaining the Quality Management System in line with industry standards like IATF 16949 and VDA 6.3. The role involves embedding a culture of continuous improvement across the organization and supporting the team to achieve quality targets. Key responsibilities include developing quality policies, processes, and standards, ensuring compliance, managing external certifications, addressing nonconformities, updating documentation, training others, conducting audits, and producing reports. The role also involves managing relationships with stakeholders, motivating the team, and promoting high standards. The leader will also be involved in implementing new business initiatives and projects. The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of experience within the automotive industry.
Must have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Automotive Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in automotive manufacturing
  • Strong expertise in automotive tools and methodologies
  • In-depth knowledge of Automotive Quality Management Systems
  • Excellent problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills; fluent in English
Good to have:
  • Certifications in Quality Management and Lead Auditor Training
  • Strong expertise in automotive tools and methodologies

Job purpose

Maintain the Quality Management System in line with the required industry standards (including: IATF 16949, VDA 6.3, CSR), certification requirements and business requirements across the organization. Embed a culture of continuous improvement throughout the company. Support the team to achieve quality management system targets for customers and business goals.

Key Responsibilities

1.    Strategy and Development

  • Responsible for developing the Quality policies, processes, standards and systems for the Company to operate within. This may include auditing to ensure compliance.
  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice into policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve overall PHINIA Quality System.
  •  Contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on Quality Management Systems (QMS)

2.    General and Task Management

  • Support Management Systems strategy. Ensure ongoing compliance of the Quality Management System against industry and customer requirements.
  • Ensure that all necessary procedures are in place to satisfy all customer requirements and audits. 
  • Manage all external certification events for Global processes. Liaise with external bodies on all matters relating to certification. 
  • Ensure corrective actions are undertaken to address nonconformities found.
  • Ensure that all in-house Global Process Maps, procedures and work instructions are updated, revised and modified to meet the needs of the business.
  • Update quality documentation and communicate to carry forward lessons learned from quality concerns.
  • Introduce new systems and procedures where appropriate.
  • Train others in all aspects of the quality system and application of procedures
  • Undertake regular internal and process audits of the QMS of globally managed processes.
  • Attend various meetings 
  • Produce written reports and make presentations 
  • Undertake continuous training and development 
  • Identify business improvement opportunities within the organization 
  • Support the development of key performance indicators (KPIs) and risk assessment for PHINIA Business processes
  •  Conduct PHINIA annual Management Review

3.    Relationship Management

  • Motivate and coach the team (QMS leaders and functional leaders). Provide technical expertise to the team.
  • Consistently promote high standards through personal example.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance.
  • Work collaboratively and engage with all management levels.
  • Liaise and communicate with other departments and service providers
  • Work together with Management team to share ideas, recommend, support and implement continuous improvement activities and procedure those improvements.
  • Communicate with personnel internally at all levels in relation to QMS matters

What we’re looking for 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Automotive Engineering or a related technical field. 
  • Certifications in Quality Management and Lead Auditor Training (IATF 16949 and/ or VDA 6.3) are an advantage.
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in a manufacturing and/or development environment within the automotive industry.
  • Strong expertise in automotive tools and methodologies, including AIAG core tools (APQP, FMEA, PPAP, MSA, SPC) and Customer Specific Requirements.
  • In-depth knowledge of Automotive Quality Management Systems, with hands-on auditing experience and a strong understanding of IATF and VDA standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving, planning, decision-making, organizational, and follow-up skills.
  • Strong communication abilities, including excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills; fluent in English.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, adaptable to change, and able to inspire and motivate others with a positive, results-driven attitude.
  • Skilled in working across cross-functional teams, fostering a collaborative team environment, and anticipating and overcoming challenges.
  • Willingness to travel 20%
