iLogos Game Studios is seeking a Head of Art Department to lead, grow, and support art teams across multiple projects. This leadership role involves strategic planning, department budgeting, team development, and high-level artistic oversight. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of game art experience, strong artistic sensibility across 2D, 3D, and animation, and proven managerial skills in hiring, mentoring, and resource allocation. This fully remote position offers flexible hours and creative challenges.

Must Have

  • 5+ years of experience in game art, including leadership responsibility on shipped projects
  • Strong artistic sensibility and ability to assess quality across 2D, 3D, animation
  • Solid understanding of art production pipelines and interdependencies
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (art, tech, production, design)
  • Strong managerial and communication skills
  • Proven experience in task scoping, budgeting, workload planning, and resource allocation
  • Experience in hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and evaluating artists
  • Excellent organizational skills, balancing multiple initiatives and teams simultaneously

Good to Have

  • Prior experience in outsourcing or service-based game development
  • Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Trello, Figma
  • Hands-on experience with game engines or art-production tools (Unity, Unreal, etc.)

This role combines responsibility for hiring and team development, department budgeting and structure, and high-level artistic oversight throughout all active productions. It’s a leadership position that blends strategic planning with hands-on guidance of artists, pipelines, and project workflows.

What the Role Is About:

Hiring & Team Building

  • Evaluate candidates across all art disciplines to build diverse, project-ready teams
  • Mentor, develop, and support artists at all levels
  • Maintain healthy team structure, professional growth paths, and consistent onboarding standards

Budget & Department Management

  • Plan and manage the art department’s budget, workload distribution, and staffing needs
  • Ensure efficient allocation of resources across projects
  • Track performance, productivity, and staffing gaps to maintain operational stability
  • Proactively identify structural issues and implement improvements
  • Collaborate with management on strategic scaling of the art function

Project Oversight

  • Oversee the visual quality, consistency, and timely delivery of art across all active projects
  • Work closely with PMs, Art Leads, and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with goals
  • Review artwork, give actionable feedback, and safeguard quality standards
  • Resolve artistic and production-related challenges early and efficiently
  • Ensure all teams follow best practices, pipelines, and platform-specific constraints
