The Index Analyst will join the FTSE Russell Operations team, focusing on constructing, managing, and supporting FR and tailored indices. This role involves ensuring errorless daily index calculations, performing quality assurance, and timely delivery of index products. The analyst will address client queries, resolve operational issues, and conduct daily analysis of index change events. Key responsibilities include rebalancing indices, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and developing expertise in index calculation methodologies. The position requires a strong analytical approach, attention to detail, and a passion for learning.
Must have:
  • Ensure errorless calculation of all Indexes via daily production procedures and controls.
  • Perform routine quality assurance procedures, checking prices and supervising market activity.
  • Ensure timely delivery of all Index Products to internal & external clients.
  • Address client queries and collaborate with Client Service teams for resolution.
  • Address regular/routine operational issues promptly.
  • Conduct day to day analysis of index change events impacting performance.
  • Research and validate corporate actions impacting equity index constituents.
  • Rebalance indices and attribute changes in composition.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams, data providers, and technology professionals.
  • Develop knowledge of index calculation methodologies & processes.
  • Maintain the index database in accordance with changes.
  • Call out issues/concerns and report exceptions promptly.
  • Support Specialist/Development and Product Team in UAT and project work.
  • 3 years of proven experience.
  • Working in Night Shifts (21:00 to 06:00 HRS) Indian Standard Time.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of global financial markets and products, incorporating indexes.

Job Details

Index Calculation Services Data Operations Team part of FTSE Russell Operations will be accountable for constructing, managing, and supporting FR (Refinitiv) and tailored indices.

As an Index Analyst, you will be accountable for constructing, maintaining, and analyzing indices that serve as critical benchmarks for our customers. This Position requires a strong Analytical approach, attention to detail and Passion to learn.

Key Responsibilities:

As a member of the Index Calculation Team, Analyst will be accountable for the support/assisting of the periodic Index reviews and rebalances of the FR Proprietary, Custom calculated indices and Overlay indices.

Key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Ensure errorless calculation of all the Indexes via the execution of all daily production procedures and controls while operating within accepted time limit.
  • Perform routine quality assurance procedures, which include checking prices and supervising market activity to understand impact on our clients or Index calculations.
  • Ensure timely delivery of all the Index Products to internal & external clients.
  • Addressing client queries and collaborating with Client Service teams to assist in resolution of client queries.
  • Addressing regular/routine operational issues promptly.
  • Conduct day to day analysis of index change events that impact the performance of all Indexes.
  • Research and validation of corporate actions impacting constituents of equity indices by seeking advice from Corporate Actions Team, filings, and exchange source.
  • Rebalancing indices and attributing changes in composition of indices to informative causes based on changes in input data.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams, data providers, and technology professionals.
  • Develop knowledge of index calculation methodologies & processes and maintain the index database in accordance with changes in Index constituents, coverage, or methodology.
  • Call out to line manager any issues/concerns and report exceptions promptly.
  • Support the Specialist/Development and Product Team carrying out user acceptance testing and supporting project work and providing documentation to the users.

Candidate profile / key skills

  • 3 years of proven experience
  • It is encouraged that with limited supervision the individual will deliver each of the key objectives of the role identified above, to the highest degree of accuracy.
  • Flexible in working hours including working over Sunday and public holidays (If required).
  • Ability to work under exacting time constraints, multi-task and prioritize feature work.
  • Good interpersonal, communication,
  • Working knowledge and understanding of global financial markets and products, incorporating indexes, is needed.
